I remember some guys in here were wondering how my consult with Dr. Emerson in NC would go. I had my consult yesterday afternoon and it went great! I really like him not only as a surgeon but as a person. I think it's going to be a good fit. Yeah, it was uncomfortable to be examined and measured with the tape, but he was quick about it. I seen a handful of his results and no, they're not "perfection" but I based it off something a guy once told me. He said, "look at his worse result, and if you could live with that if it was what you got". Yep, it sure was. I like that he's letting me have a hand in some of the decision making. I asked that he cut higher on the sides instead of lower as I had seen in some photos and he agreed after he looked at my sides. He says, "It's all about the rolls, and you don't have much", lol. He was down to earth and I liked that.
Well, I haven't booked my exact date yet (I won't until I figure out work/school schedules exactly), but I know surgery will be in late July/early August. I'm excited...and know this is going to be some long months until then.
Congrats dude!!
Congrats! Hopefully August will be here before you know it :)
Congrats! Does that mean the other surgery you thought you might have to have you don't? Just checkin' on ya.
Way to go, mate! Congratulations! I found that time really flies - kiss these last few months of moobs goodbye!

Wellllll, I was supposed to be having scans in August but I contacted my doctors and told them I couldn't go out of State to get them done until October because of school and they said that would be fine. I feel fine right now. No pain or anything and two years ago my largest kidney tumor was 1mm (they don't operate until the largest is 3cm) so I think I'll be alright getting this done before scans. Finally, I'll be able to go in the MRI machines without a binder. For years they've told me it might alter my scan results but I've always refused to take it off.

Oh, I hope so...it seems like a lifetime away at this point. Next week I'm putting my deposit down. Then it's time to twiddle my thumbs and make a ticker, lol.
That's wicked!
Im happy for you, and even more so to hear that the other health issues aren't misbehaving too much to get in the way :p
I really hope that things go smoothly for you. You've waited long enough! :)
Im glad the surgeon seemed decent too.

Glad to hear it. I had colon cancer in 2010. Had surgery, chemo, all that jazz. I thought I might be having symptoms again a couple of weeks before my top surgery. My mom was like, you need to get that checked out NOW because if you are having any problems again you need to get that handled and put your top surgery on the back burner. I was like...ummm, no deal! Anyway, symptoms went away prior to surgery.
Sorry to hear the dysphoria has been so intense that you have not been able to remove the binder for something as serious as a MRI. I have had to do CAT scans and I couldn't get through the test quick enough due to my discomfort with no binder on. Hospital gowns in general are a killer for that reason.

I hate that you've dealt with cancer but you do understand where I am coming from. That sort of understanding is few and far between so I am glad we met. Feel free to add me on FB if you would like.
Yeah, my chest dysphoria is bad. I have worn a binder into surgery, lol. I told them they could cut it off if they needed to, but I wasn't going in without it. I've woken up from surgeries and gotten straight up off the hospital bed frantically searching for a binder. I need this done badly. It feels so far away but I feel privileged to know it is coming.
High-five bro!
