Title: A response to "vagina pride". (Trigger warning)
Post by: Calder Smith on March 16, 2014, 01:09:29 PM
This is a video by emqism talking about the whole "vagina pride" thing that sparked from GirlfriendsTV's video.

I thought I'd share because he brings up many good points about the subject and I thought you guys would appreciate it.

Thanks for posting. This was definitely well-thought out and well organized. One isn't defined by their body, I think that's also my problem with the whole "(body part) pride" thing. Actually I have a little difficulty with body part pride anyway, people don't normally have much control over their bodies. (Just a little nitpicking thing but the v is not the analogous part to the penis, that would be the cl.)

I always have liked Emery's approach to topics. My own personal opinion on the topic is it's silly. I don't think I could ever have pride in any body part. I'm not going to have hazel eyes pride, white skin pride, or big feet pride. Pride (to me) is something you have when you have made an accomplishment in your life. I can have pride in my transition and how far I've come with it. This Summer after top surgery I may have pride in my new chest for awhile. Yes, it will be a body part but it was an accomplishment, something I altered and not something that just happened to me upon birth.

Yeah, next to Skylar, Emery is my favorite FTM on YouTube. I really like his views on subjects too.

I'm subscribed to him as well and he's great but let's not forget Val! He's pretty awesome too. :)

I don't know Val; what is his channel?

Emery brings up some great points here and I really don't understand what the person in the comments is saying about Emery not respecting non-binary identified people when his video basically just said 'respect how people identify themselves.'

Well I am too, but if you have top surgery you did do something. I think top surgery is sort of a rite of passage type thing (not sure what the right term might be) for some trans guys.

I feel that Emery is respectful of non-binary IDs. I don't have any problem with his views, as he is clear they are his own.
