I'm thinking of hair extensions at some point in the future. Does anyone have any experience with them? How realistic do they look, and are they easy to care for? Permanent? A good alternative to a wig? Useful in covering up any bald areas at the front of the head? Or just a waste of time and money?
No, but I was hanging out with this girl I met the other day, and she said she'd do my hair because she had hair as short (or shorter) than mine and her hair looked amazing. I had no idea. So, they work. She said they cost $100. So, for me it's: laser, new canvas duffel/hand bag (from ACNE but it costs $200, ugh Might just go back to H&M) thought I might just go with a big MK bag, then extensions. I was going to get laser resurfacing but I have been using Vitamin E oil from the caps on my pock marks and it's working. I can't believe it!!!! Oh, and I need new clothes.
But, yeah, extensions work. But, if you're not skilled with this sort of thing or have little experience with fashion and beauty, get it done at a cosmetology school. They are not like wigs, they're glued in. I'm prolly going to go with a chin length bob. I'm tired of looking so dykey. I like men, so I think I very femme hairdo will pretty me up quite nicely. But if you're going to get extensions then you have to, just have to, but this blush stick. I eye hustled it for months and it's finally mine. My precious muwhahaha. Seriosuly, i'm in love with it. I just got the light pink but I'm going to the shock pink, next week so i can blend my cheeks.

Thanks Joanna. Great information, and that hair would look amazing on you. (The chin-length bob is about as long as I'd go too, but I'm kinda impatient and my hair would take a good two years to even get close to that length.)
I'd definitely go professional for them, rather than trying to do it myself. I work in a job where a wig would be impractical, and the extensions would have to look as natural as possible. Ugh. I wish hair grew faster - maybe HRT will help with that...

Sounds from Joanna that cost and skill in application is very important, I think I remember that was the message. I was quoted $3000 for collar length hair in Australia, that is a memory not a quote. I do recall deciding to forget about it. Went to a top flight salon instead. With hair you do get what you pay for IMO.
My hair is now to my shoulder blades thick and nice, and no grey to be seen :laugh: Even the bald patches are gone. And it is gorgeous :embarrassed: :laugh:

Hair extensions and weaves have come a long way in a short period so anything from too far back would be outdated. I know my, er, friend, is really self conscious about his hair and he wants me to help him put in a hair piece (cause he doesn't trust anyone else) and he said that he looked at the material a couple years ago and now and can't believe how much it changed that hair pieces are almost like cell phones. Always changing. True story lol

Oh I totally know. I wasn't trying to one up you or anything. Not that i could! I try to watch how I write, because I know I have come across rather b!t¢h¥ as of late. But up until recently I have been really depressed from BF, or ex-BF, problems. I shouldn't make excuses, but maybe it's more of an explanation. Still though, I shouldn't take my issues out on others, especially people who are in a vulnerable state themselves. I was going to issue a public apology, and did apologize to one girl via PM, but maybe this will suffice. Okay, tangent over. Now I'll need to issue another apology lol

Cindy, how bald were the bald patches? Norwood 4 or better? How long did they take to fill in after starting HRT?
