Title: Downtime
Post by: Susan on March 23, 2014, 05:35:15 PM
I am sorry for the downtime but it was unavoidable on my part. The server was up and running fine; but due to the upstream isp losing a circuit, we were unable to receive traffic.

That being said if the downtime showed you how important the site is to you, please consider becoming a donor or subscriber and help us bring this site and its future to you! Thanks!

You have no idea how many times I refreshed the tab during the downtime totally freaking out and thinking "What if it never comes back?!"

*hugs everyone in this thread tightly*

I'm on a rather limited budget but I'll try to come up with something  :)  Glad the site is up again

I would if I could but I can't.
I kinda wish I had the $20 I donated back, I have no idea how much my prescription is going to cost, and I only have $25 to cover it.
What is done is done. I'll make do with what I have, and donate what I can, when I can.

Thank you Susan... Today I realized just how much this site has become part of my support system. I will try to send a donation soon once I work it into the budget. LOL... I really did panic a bit.

I didn't even notice when you became a moderator, Jessica. I hope it didn't happen right before the downtime. That must have put a damper on the celebration, if it did.

*extra huggles* Congratulations! And yes, anyone who wants my contact info outside the forum, just PM me. You already have my email, Jessica, although you may have forgotten it by now.

Take it back, your site probably needs it more than I do. I can always beg my dad for money.

No, one day when you are able you can chose to donate it back or not, until then consider it a gift.

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask it...but how can I track the topics where I have posted?

Did the layout of the site change? I can't see anymore the link "new replies for your posts"...

Just wondering if it moved or if I am blind...  ???

You may have collapsed the section where it is displayed

At the top of the site look for where it says

Susan's Place Transgender Resources to the right of it is a arrow which should be pointing up. If it is pointing down click it once.

I did the same thing one time. I accidentally clicked it (not even knowing that it was there) and then I was like  :o 'what happened?!' :D

Glad to see everything is fine again, I must admit to worrying it might have been to unsavoury types deliberately bringing the site down, the fact it was a gremlin is at least a relief from that point of view.

A few hours ago it wasn't working for me, but I just assumed it was my 4g connection just crapping out (it does that alot).

It was out for me, too, so I'm assuming it was down for everyone. My connection was fine at the time.

I'm already a subscriber because I see the value in this site and how quickly costs build from my previous life in IT.

The most frustrating outages are always when it's the service provider. All you can do is make a phone call or two, wait and prey to the Binary Gods (or a higher power of your choosing).

Don't feel bad Natalia, it happens to the best of us.
I use to work tech support in IT and I was on the phone with a really sweet o'l lady who had just bought a computer. This was a while back when they were still using 5 1/4" floppy disk. I politely ask her to insert the floppy disk and close the door. The women said "Okay just a minute" She set down the phone and there was a long pause... When she got back on the phone she said, "Okay it's in". Not knowing why the delay I politely ask why she had to step away from the phone. She replied and didn't miss a beat when she said it. "I went to close the front door"... I literally fell off my chair...

Yeah. Since I'm IT staff too, I had to know that. It's one of my favorites. (Together with Haven and TBBT for example, which I DON'T think is discriminating. Just had to add that.)

Thanks Susan this site has become an everyday support for me and I have met some lovely ppl I really want to donate but with lawyer fees for my custody battle getting higher every month it has been really impossible.

I did panic bait when the site wouldn't load but all was good in the end.
