Just got home from picking up my very first HRT prescription!! Starting off with a low (half) dose of Estrace and a low dose of Androcur and moving to a full dose of Estrace in a month. The doctor is working off of notes from the lone endo here who works with trans* patients but hopefully she's willing to be flexible; apparently the endo's progestin of choice is Medroxy (which I will not take), hopefully I can convince her to go with Prometrium instead. Now I just need to work out a schedule for taking it. In any case YAY!!! ;D
Good for you! :) Androcur can cause depression in some so if you notice this in yourself, drop it and ask to be switched. And yea, avoid medroxy...
From one Canadian to another...congrats!
Thank! ;D
Also, I'm wondering if it matters when I take my Androcur. Like, should I take it when I get up in the morning or just before bed, or mid-day? Right now I'm on a minimal dose so I can't divide it.
Hi and congratulations for your big step forward :)
I am taking Androcur myself , and I prefer to take it before going to bed in the night , especially that during the night sleep is when the testosterone would be produce , but I don't know if that is better or not by the scientific point of view .
I was depressed anyway and I can't say if Androcur affected me , but I know it is kinda toxic for the liver :( , yet it is more efficient than Spironolactone / Finasteride , so I go with it , in low doses .
Congratulations, Jessika! I'm so happy for you ;D Welcome to E space :)
@Claudia
I was thinking of that myself, it certainly seems to me to be a good reason to take it before bed. I'm gonna do it that way.
@Claudia and Ellie
Thanks! I'm ecstatic to finally be able to start! ;D
Doesn't matter when you take Androcur and once daily is enough as its half-life is quite long.
Liver toxicity is especially likely at doses higher than those typically prescribed to us. Prolactin may be significantly increased by Androcur and may, occasionally, lead to a benign pituitary tumour so it's best to keep a close eye on that.
Congratulations!
Welcome to the matrix!
I am happy for you.
Congraulations :)
Welcome to the dark side Jessika
Stay a while, stay forever!

Doesn't matter what time you take your HRT.
I was severly depressed and Androcur was not recommended.
A depressive episode on it can happen very quickly so be aware, and if one occurs just stop it and see your medic ASAP. To be forewarned is the best way.
I've been on Spiro for years and no side effects except fantastic ones. :laugh:
Congrats on starting HRT!
