I recently found out I am trans and I just can't stand my body hair...honestly I think it's one of my male features I despise the most. Even before coming to grips with the fact that I was trans and starting to consider transition it made me uncomfortable to even show my shoulders in public. I tried removing it in different ways lately to experiment with cross dressing but there doesn't seem to be a decent solution for me. Tried sugar waxing hoping it would be better than that time I had my back done with regular wax (I got giant pimples from that) and it wasn't much better ... I'm still healing from ingrown hairs, scabs, etc on my upper chest... not cool. Shaving seems to work... for like a day, then my super coarse stubble turns my whole body into sand paper :(
My trans friend told me that going on HRT fixed her body hair problem even though she used to be a gorilla, to use her term...(I don't know if it was before or after she had SRS) and she didn't need full body laser hair removal. I was wondering if this was true for most of you who are currently on HRT. Of course, I wouldn't consider transitioning for a "simple" body hair issue but it sure gave me the motivation to start seeing a therapist.
Valfreyja, everyone has a different experience on HRT.
For me with body hair the rate of growth and thickness/coarseness has gone done significantly. I noticed that after about three months in. I shave fairly regularly and I really didn't have a whole lot of body hair to begin with that a cis woman my age wouldn't have.
If you have dark colored hair then many of the ladies here recommend laser and/or the home tria system to remove hair from those areas more permanently. I have blonde/red hair myself so electrolysis is the only permanent solution for me.
HRT pretty much completely knocked out my body hair after about 3 months or so. There's still some there, mainly in what were previously the thickest patches, (a bit of chest hair, a bit of stomach hair,) but what's there is very soft and fine, and pretty much undetectable unless you really get close.
So yeah... in general, HRT will greatly reduce it. Even those I've known who didn't lose it outright generally still report it getting much softer and finer. So you can pretty much guarantee that it will at least be WAY easier to remove once you've been on HRT for a while. Once it starts becoming softer and finer, it's much less likely to irritate your skin and give you razor bumps when it pokes back up.
HRT has reduced my body hair, but not elimanated the problem. My next step will probably be body laser.
There are actually several cases where men who aren't transgender have used a low-dose of AA's to get rid of some/much of their body hair. I know that it will vary on different persons, but I believe that almost everyone on HRT will experience less body hair.
If you want it gone, get it done before HRT. After that, Laser/Electro hurts kinda way worse.
Well, sounds like there's hope for me yet then. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience everyone. Considering the money investment in a full body laser hair removal versus the other procedures I expect to have to pay to scrape away some of my male shell... I think that hoping for strong hrt effect on my body hair + maybe the tria "at home" laser will be the best option for me. Oh! and looks like I'm gonna set my 1st therapist appointment today... Excited/scared ! ;)
Cheers,
The quickest, simplest and cheapest method is simply the deft application of a razor.
Take a long hot soapy bath then get busy with a razor. You may be surprised how slowly it grows back.

It did for me. By six months on HRT I only had body hair in feminine locations (forearms, lower legs, armpits, pubic hair) and what I did have on my arms and legs was short and fine like a woman's.
ive been with a few women, i can assure you women also have body hair, you would be amazed how many shave there boobs. I wouldn't stress unless you look like a teddy bare, nowt a razor cant sort..

It also depends on your heritage. Being Italian, I have to do a full body shave every 3 days or so, as it grows fast and thick. Those of Scandinavian and Asian descent will find they have slower body hair growth and less body hair thickness overall, and those of Mediterranean descent will find that it grows fast and thick.
