Title: Hello
Post by: Balerie on March 31, 2014, 04:43:33 PM
Hello,
My name is Valerie and I'm 47. All my life I felt like I was different and sometimes I thought I was schizophrenic because I had times when I wanted to be female but it was not a constant thing. I crossdressed on and off most of my life in an attempt to let that side of me out. During my teens I did lots of research regarding sex changes and gender issues before I knew what the correct terms were. Once the internet came along it was so much easier to Get more information.

2 years ago I was diagnosed as XXY and put on testosterone. Suddenly everything made sense and I felt like an awakening had taken place. I started therapy to help me deal with the gender tug of war in my head and i started thinking seriously about whether I want to be fully female or just part time male and part time female.

I came here to get resources, support, suggestions, and socialize. I've been lurking for a bit reading some of the forum postings and enjoying the great conversations contained herein. I'm hoping to get some answers that will help me in my journey to finding the real me or at least the me I can live happily without conflicts.

A big warm welcome to the family Valerie! It should not take you too long to find out that is just what this is. We all want to see you succeed and thrive and will do what we can to help out. Feel free to rant, vent, share good news (we like that a lot), learn or just have some distracting fun and meet the rest of the family. All the information you will get here is provided by REAL people actually undergoing transition from those still questioning to Post Op and beyond. Here is a BIG HUG  :icon_hug: to welcome you and make you feel right at home!

Please review

Thanks Jessica. I'm so happy to have found a caring community where we can share information with others that are going through some of the same things we are as well.

Thanks XiaoMei.  I'm glad this community is of like minded people. I'm not out yet and don't have any intersex or trans friends so I'm hoping I will be able to make friends here. I'm also learning so much here. I'm on an XXY forum and it has lots of information but there is so much more here. I'm so glad I joined and eventually started posting. I've been lurking for a while.

Hi Valerie and welcome to Susan's. Glad to have you here. I was stationed in San Antonio in 1971 and spent a few days in Houston. Congratulations on beginning your journey.

Mrv35, welcome to the community. I completely understand where you are coming from. I'm 49 living in Georgia. Is nice to be able to share your thoughts and feelings with others that don't judge. I hope what ever you decide works out for you. My therapist has already said that I'm transgender and after Christmas were going to talk about Hrt.

Hugs Rikki
