Social Security Administration Updates Procedural Guidelines on Marriages with Transgender People (http://transgenderlawcenter.org/archives/10112)

According to Transgender Law Center, the SSA has updated it's guidelines to more quickly process marriage-claims involving trans people.

Guidelines are here: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/public/reference.nsf/links/03252014040307PM
QuoteWe are streamlining the development requirements for cases in which a marriage involves transgender individuals. Our past policy was to refer all marriage-based claims involving transgender individuals for a legal opinion from the Regional Chief Counsel (RCC). Our new policy allows us to process most claims under existing instructions for opposite-sex marriages or under Windsor instructions for same-sex marriages without the need for a legal opinion.
