Title: Confused about breast development
Post by: AMDERS on April 03, 2014, 04:37:19 AM
So here's the story. I've been on full dose hormones for about three and a half months now. Also, I was on hormones for two months before. That during the summer, but thanks to my mom deciding to change insurance plans, I had to take a slight pause (worst thing ever!).

I've had breast development occurring since really the second or third week I was on HRT (as in lumps behind the nipples) and at this point the buds are fairly large and there's quite a bit of fatty tissue developing in the area. This is all great, but I'm just wondering why I feel almost no pain at all. I think I did for a few days a month or so ago, but it just seems odd that there is no pain or pressure in the area given that I hear almost every other girl complain about it. I could just be overly critical (something I need to discuss with my therapist next week) but it just has me a bit confused. Have any other girls had pain free breast development? (granted, they did itch like a b*itch from time to time)

It varies from person to person - sore/not sore, itchy/not itchy, sensitive/not sensitive... doesn't mean nothing is happening though. Three months isn't much in the grand scheme of things, you'll likely see more development over the coming year.

As Grace said, it varies so much. One acts up, then the other then both, then they go quiet, then you are at a meeting in front of five men and both decide to throb like bejesus and you want to grab them. Ah boob joy

Yeah, it varies a lot. I never really had much *pain* to speak of, unless I jostled or bounced them hard; a bit of aching now and then, but nothing major. I had a bigger problem with the fiendish itching, but that set in around 2 years or more into it! If you're seeing growth, it's all good. :)

...and just when I think they are taking a break from hurting, one of the cats will launch itself onto my chest and I am given a big reminder.  Wife was amused when I complained that the cats think my chest is a toy!!!

It comes and goes. The sharp pain hasn't appeared lately but they are still developing.  I have not had much itching and the pain is not consistent between them.  They truly are a lottery.

I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth lol!

Seriously though, I have lots of pain, and then almost no pain, but as best I can tell the growth rate isn't directly correlated to my pain. So I don't think it would be smart to necessarily think pain=growth. Talking to Ciswomen I know only about half of them describe similar pain and all to a far lesser extent when their breasts were developing, though many of them seemed to have similar pains during pregnancy. This makes me think even more that breast pain and breast growth are not really the same thing exactly.

Thanks girls for all the great replies. It's made me feel much more comfortable. I guess I should be embracing pain-free breasts, but it just had me worried.
