Title: Spiro
Post by: Jane2014 on April 04, 2014, 08:17:20 PM
I am starting spiro. I'm really confused about potassium intake or should I say dangers of it. I know that bananas potatoes oranges are a big no no while on this drug. But what about other foods? What should I avoid?

I've personally had no problem with bananas or potatoes. But then I'm vegetarian. So maybe my overall potassium intake is low anyway. Certainly my endo hasn't raised it as an issue in the nine months I've been on Spiro. It may be relevant to your individual blood make up, I don't know - you should talk to your prescribing medico about anything you should avoid.

Check the packaging on the foods that you eat the potassium content should be listed.I had to cut out Orange Juice, Hot Dogs, Tater Chips and a couple of other things .My level was at a 6 not too bad but still high, the doc cut my Spiro dose in half till it goes down.
