I was kind of wondering, is it a good idea to dress and look like a woman before HRT I know my face wont change til then but it would prove who I am. I dk yet since its a tough decision, just like to know if its a good idea or should I wait
Whatever makes you feel good. I dressed like a "woman" when I was 5-6 years old. It was fun to play dress up.

Yes, it will help, I did it before everything,
I would say go ahead because that's what you are. If you wait for the effects of HRT to kick in you will lose a lot of time enjoying and expressing who you really are. I myself went full time after only a short time on HRT (1 month). HRT was not a factor in my decision to dress I just finally committed myself and accepted who I was. When I accepted who I was dressing came naturally and was not uncomfortable or scary. Now I don't even consider myself cross dressed as a woman, just dressing as me, a woman. :)

While it may be an outdated way of thinking, a lot of medical professionals
require you to dress in your preferred gender before prescribing HRT. This is what they call "Real Life Experience".

Yeah, get a head start! No need to wait for HRT and it will give you some confidence and practice ahead of hormones.
thanks I will deifiantly start dressing like a woman, it makes it easier to identify myself and I feel comfortable also, so I decided to start now since its myself and I need to be happy for who I am
Yes I agree go agead and be yourself. I wore womens clothes full time years before hrt. One, womens clothes always seem to fit me better than mens clothes did and it allowed me to just be me. It's a great feeling! ;)
I would say a big yes here.
Being Transgender has nothing to do with hormones or surgeries. It is a state of mind, hormones may
alleviate the physical incongruence of the body and easy the living in real life. But the hardest part is
to accept that you ARE a woman also BEFORE hormones, you are not becoming a woman, you are already.
What hormones can do is to feminize a little your body, but that's it.
Absolutely! I feel it helped me be more confident.
When I came out on January 2nd, of this year I started living full time (Granted I was on hormones since July).
I don't even think about it, it just feels organic to me.
Just remember, the choice is ultimately yours and yours alone.

I started full time April-May 2013 started Hrt 12/25/2013 . After that long its second nature and going on hrt is just the icing on the chocolate cake :) YUM !
When I requested HRT at hospital about 6 years ago, the 2nd reason of the physician to deny it was that I can express my femininity without HRT. I wore a long red coat with heels, together some makeup. He said I can continue to wear like that, and asked what the problem is.

Do you mean in private or in public? I think its a tricky question. In private, yes definitely. In public, you should be aware of the repercussions if you don't pass "or blend in." This could crush your confidence if people start pointing and laughing, which apparently happens a lot. I mean will you pass okay, or at least ok enough that people won't say anything, they won't know for sure and hence, stay quiet. If you obviously look like a man, then you will need a lot of confidence. I dressed pretty andro or femme a long while before HRT but I just wore women's clothes that were androgynous cause I liked the style and fit. I pretty much have to wear women's shoes or insert lifts in any men's shoes I buy to take up the empty space. I'm like a size 5.5-6 in men's.
In the end, do what you want to do, but I wouldn't do anything you're not comfy with as it could hurt more than help. Really, it depends what typr of women's clothes are we talking about, like sundresses or form-fitting tops and skinnies or like reg tops and boot cut women's jeans. You could wear the latter and no one would know the difference while at the same time becoming used to the idea.
Question: how long have you known you are trans? You seem young by your posts, so remember, this isn't a race. It's a marathon and the end goal is to finish to not to sprint and then run out of gas and quit.
I've known that im a trans since I was 22 but really had no idea that anything like this existed so I waited and tried at 27 but was difficult since at the time I was in florida and everything was an hour and half away from me so kind of was on hold til I moved back to Providence Rhode Island and now doing therapy for it, Im also now 32 years old now so its getting a little bit easier and for me I rather wear it in private for now since I don't really go out a lot but soon enough maybe in a few months or a year when I know im more comfortable or when I get on hrt then I will start wearing it out in public.
