Title: New Job
Post by: Two Bodies/Same Soul on April 10, 2014, 02:54:27 PM
So iv'e been blessed with a decetly paying job working at a local Hilton Garden Inn. I'm kind of worried about the fact that I may be starting HRT very soon. What should I do? What if they start asking questions? Should I come out? I don't want to lose this Job seeing as 1. I legitimately like It.  2. I'm well aware that transitioning cost's money.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I say speak to your manager/supervisor/boss and tell them. If they know beforehand, they usually take things better. If you get fired just for something like being tg, then the one in charge is just a big jerk and needs to learn some people skills.

I've personally never found much benefit in outing myself (especially to strangers) months before transition, it just leaves people confused.

If you're starting HRT it will take some time before changes become evident, probably six months. Depending on what you have to wear and how well you can conceal breast development would mean no one would suspect anything for up to nine months or more. If you feel like going full time at that point it would be a case of outing yourself to the boss then, you would have proven yourself in the job so you would be better placed to transition then rather than announcing yourself as trans* from the outset.

That is actually some really good advice grace. Thank you as well Marcus. Trying to be a little pragmatic right now. My boss is actually a really nice person, her name ironically happens to be Susan. :))
