My SRS is booked for this coming July! While I'm incredibly excited, I wanted to share some experiences that I've had since booking my SRS that I didn't expect to maybe help others who are also planning on SRS.
There's lots of information about the need to have support systems in place for complications that may arise after surgery, but I haven't seen too much about preperations before.
Personally before looking into or planning SRS I tried to ignore that part of my body being incorrect until I could fix it. However with my SRS being booked it's brought that to the fore front and has caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. I'm unsure if it's impatience of wanting it fixed now or with SRS being such a big deal making me think about this so often.
This might be a pretty meaningless post, but just wanted to share this or warn others that the road to surgery might have some challenges just as the road after. :)
I know exactly what you mean, teeg. I had a really rough couple of weeks. I think that once you have a "date certain" it really gets real for realz and it can cause a lot of stress and emotions to come out. If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to drop into chat.
Does having a fender bender traffic accident give an idea of the stress I was under 9 days before my surgery. I was running around getting medical records sent from my HMO to Dr. Bowers office, and was screwing up with my dates for certain medical records, and thus delays and repeat requests. At least the U.S. post office got my checks mailed to all three places on time, but I was paying for the guaranteed overnight delivery. There was an almost last minute need to change transportation modes due to winter driving concerns (and that was in Southern California). Last minute appeals from some family members to NOT do it, I was really in a daze. I can truthfully say the hospital stay was the first real rest I had for over a month.
