I recently took some tests that supposedly say whether you have a male or female brain. I also was joking with a coworker about the subject. And the other post about male characteristics got me thinking.
I like maps a lot. I don't have to turn the map to orient. I've also been quick at basic math. (After algebra I lost interest). I am somewhat mechanically minded and am always curious how things are put together. I also don't read the directions when assembling things. lol.
I know these aren't necessarily male traits but I'm hoping you get the gist.
The 1st two things that come to mine is the fact that I think about sex way to often and that I am very visual which is typical for males not trying to be nasty or anything......

Yeah, me too.
I don't know really - I'm almost paranoid that a thread like this could be turned into "you're all misogynists" hate.
I don't care much for babies or "cute kids". Just not interested. I can't think of "male brain characteristics".

I don't know many people, but the guys I know are great with kids and love them, sooooo hopefully that doesn't happen because that sounds like a false stereotype, to me at least.
I have Schizoid Personality Disorder which is said to be part of an over masculinization of the brain by some (along with autism). I've always been more drawn to working with my hands and have a tendency to not want to wait to hear everything - let's just go do it and learn by trial and error kind of thing! Maybe some ladies are like that too, but I see it more often in guys. Not saying it's a good thing, I think listening to everything is better but you know. I took a test recently that measures masculinity and femininity. Got like 90% masculine and 0% feminine lol. I'm not sure how it concludes that but I guess that just means it's a good test (can't manipulate it). I'm no good with maps or direction though, I'm probably the worst I know in regards to that. I'm no good in math or science either. I do much better in art and music which are more feminine in a way.
Well, top of the list would be that I think of myself as male. That's pretty indicative of a male brain. (lol Sorry for stating the obvious. I kid.)
I'm violent and aggressive. Not that some women aren't, just that when I was a teenager and reading about people who acted on the violence I want to (but don't), it was very clear that most people like me are men. (Although that will probably change and the information I received didn't include people like me who don't act on it.)
Male brain characteristics? Being able to withdraw emotionally from a problem so that you can work on it without being caught up in how you feel about it. Wanting to problem solve and give answers or 'fixes' to problems people may have. Becoming upset when people reject your help because they didn't ask for it.
Those are the only ones I can think of that I consider a 'typical' male trait.
(Going to overlap brain characteristics with personality traits because we get our personalities from our brains and...yeah.)
So:
Definitely the aforementioned ones about problem-solving; I have always been very much an advice-giver, someone who wants to solve problems head-on instead of just listen to someone vent.
I'm more logical than emotional by far. It's difficult to make me cry, and I don't feel very comfortable with overly-emotional subjects or with comforting people (unless, like I said, I can give them advice or try to "fix" their problems). I still try, of course, but it's not my specialty.
I'm straightforward and see through people's BS easily.
I'm a big-time jokester. I rarely take anything seriously!
I'm extremely confident and don't really care what others think. I'm eccentric, bold, and crazy.
There are tons of others that I'm forgetting at the moment; perhaps I'll come back and add some!
And of course, there are exceptions to every one of these. There are countless logical, straightforward, funny, confident women. But let's be honest, these stereotypes exist for a reason, some biological and some cultural. For the most part, there's nothing wrong with that reality either.
For example, let's take the famous "emotion versus logic". There's nothing misogynistic about saying most women are more emotional than most men. It would only be misogynistic if one thought that because men are more logical, logic is inherently the better trait to have. Our world would be a boring place if everyone was logical, and compassion and empathy are nothing to sneeze at. Sometimes I wish I had more of them actually!
I feel like I am a male.
Other than that I don't consider brain functions to be particularly gendered.

I wasn't worried about misogyny but I was worried that it would get focused on a discussion on stereotypes. It came up mostly because of these tests that identify male or female brain. It was odd and interesting to think the brain is gendered. I was as curious as to what people would identify as male as anything.
As we all know here, people don't neatly fit into boxes so this is really just a bit of fun (I hope)
Those tests sound like fun. If they were internet tests and any of you still remember, may I please have the links?
As far as more traditional characteristics, I'd say my main one is that I'm very rational and logical, almost to a fault. I'm also a bit competitive heh.
Here's a link:

I know the one I took is called Personal DNA. It does more than masculine/feminine traits, it's pretty decent.
I should probably add a disclaimer saying feminine/masculine traits don't make the man or woman ofc, it's just for fun :)
I don't think I have any male brain characteristics, really :\ except that I'm very logical. I can be very emotional too, but I think that's because of my depression because I never used to be.
Hah. It's kind of not funny, but I scored completely in the middle on the linked test. :p
Personal DNA put me at extremely high masculinity and very low femininity, so meh, I'll take it all with a grain of salt.

I also got square in the middle for my overall result of the test Polo linked, but I scored high on the empathy/mood reading parts, and those were the only parts that really mattered to me, so I was happy. :)
Oh, and I skipped the finger measuring section because I couldn't find anything to measure them with. Just looking at them, my index and ring fingers seem to be of even length.
