Okay, so i've been on hormone injections for about a month now and i'm about to inject my third injection(i take an injection once every two weeks) anyways, the first two times i injected i was fine for the first day, but once i woke up the next day most of my leg that i used for the injections is extremely sore, and the soreness lasted for 4-5 days. It felt like a really nasty bruise that spread throughout my whole upper leg/thigh.
Anyways, my questions is, would i be able to just put maybe 1/2 or 3/4 of the needle in instead of the entire needle(1 and 1/2 inches) when giving my injections? I'm thinking that since im so skinny, maybe the needle is too long. I had been putting the entire needle in, and it didnt hurt that bad when doing so, just the next few days after. I would call my doctor but he's hard to get a hold of, and the office is closed until tommorow...
Thanks!

I don't put the whole needle in. I think I'm not alone in that. About half or 3/4 is what I do.
I don't have experience with self-injecting, but my understanding is that pushing the plunger down too fast is a common mistake. Try injecting the fluid much more slowly.
I am surprised that your Dr. did not give you detailed instruction, I am fairly welled trained as to how to administer various types of injections and am capable of administering an I.V. drip, but for legal reasons and because it is against the rules of the site I don't give out medical advise online
The best I can tell you is to consult your Dr.
My doctor didn't give me instructions on how to do injections either just said it had to be intramuscular, any who without getting into dosages, I administer my "weekly" injection with a 1" needle that's 25g and usually take about 60sec to administer. Only had a bruise a couple times and soreness for a week a couple times (mainly due to me bending the needle-ouch) I don't know how much this helps but for further help prob ask a doctor or maybe even a pharmacist.
