Title: ANZAC Day
Post by: Cindy on April 24, 2014, 03:55:27 AM
Tomorrow is ANZAC Day, the day Australians and New Zealanders commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of those who went to war to protect us.

I reflect on the fear and bravery those men and women had. Of course many would have been transgender and they faced the dual fear of impending death and dying as the person they were not.

So when we feel so bad from our dysphoria, and face the horror we have, let us take courage from our transgender brothers and sisters who faced and still face that terrible choice.

To those who gave their lives without being able to live.
I salute you and honour your memory.

Cindy

We will remember them

Lest we forget

Thank you Cindy,  no truer words have been spoken. More thoughts to think of tomorrow as we reflect on those that died so we may enjoy the life we have today

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them,  nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them"

lest we forget

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us. Where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours ... You mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away the tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace after having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well."

Just a little something from a man that I adore

A lot of Australians and New Zealanders flew out of Blackpool with the RAF during the war hunting U boats.A vital contribution to the war which rarely gets the recognition it deserves, thank you for your service
