Title: Full time one month...
Post by: Ms Grace on April 25, 2014, 06:57:11 PM
Hard to believe, but a whole month has already slipped by. And what a month!

This time last year I hadn't even started HRT and was getting frustrated with my shrink. I don't think I would have believed then that I could be here now, nor the level of support and positive feedback I have received from pretty much everyone in my life. Amazing.

Highlights from my first month?

There's been more, but those stand out. There have been a few moments that haven't been quite so stellar but nothing has really bummed me out.

Wow one month already but who's counting?

So happy everything is going well.

Bit jealous actually, love the list and can relate.
Soon...?

Hugs and love your attitude.
How is the face? Presentable after Thursday?

Sounds like it couldn't have gone any better!

Well, winning the lotto is pretty good. But realistically, it sounds like one perfect month :D

Congrats! And I love the part about it feeling normal. That is great!

You define awesome!  I go full time June 4. I've already got the boots and am Julie everywhere but work.  I will use your list as a baseline and report back in July. lol  They did that bathroom thing to me at work too.  I am so looking forward to going to the girls room there.
Thanks,
Julie

Hard to believe, but a whole month has already slipped by. And what a month!

This time last year I hadn't even started HRT and was getting frustrated with my shrink. I don't think I would have believed then that I could be here now, nor the level of support and positive feedback I have received from pretty much everyone in my life. Amazing.

Highlights from my first month?

  • Telling my parents and getting acceptance from them, not being banished from the family as I had feared.
  • Acceptance from my sister and her two sons, my nephews.
  • Meeting my mother as Grace and having her be cool about it, give me huge hug and tell me she thought I was pretty.
  • My first few days at work - outstanding support from my colleagues which continues. Kind of feels like I was never there as a guy now.
  • Being able to again use that stupid restroom at work that had once been unisex but then changed to women only back in February last year, precipitating my "straw that broke the camel's back" gender identity meltdown moment. :)
  • Actually, using women's restrooms in general, so less disgusting than the men's.
  • Being called "madam" and "miss" and, when with other women, being collectively called "ladies".
  • Going out with other women as one of the girls!
  • Chatting with women about totally girly things!
  • The support from everyone here at Susan's - seriously, my bedrock.
  • Buying and wearing knee high boots! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!  ;D
  • Clothes shopping in general, something I loathed doing as a guy.
  • The sheer normalcy of it all.

Wow I started going full-time about the same time and like you, I could have written most of the same list as you. Congratulations :)

For me I'd like to add:

Right now I'm a pretty happy and still can't believe it's happening this soon. When I first started this, I thought it would be fall before I would consider going full time, but when I was failing as a male, I knew it was time. Also a client of mine has been super supportive and she has given me a lot of confidence on passing.

Thank you everyone! It's been a remarkable month... and, in many ways, also unremarkable. It feels like I've already done a lot but I think I'll start stretching my wings now to see what I can really get away with!!  ::)

  • Passing in a one piece bathing suit at both the hotel pool in Orlando and at the beach in Del Ray Beach, FL while visiting my parents
That's great Sydney! :D Unbelievably I got away with wearing a one piece swim suit during my first attempt at transition...at a local beach north of...um... Sydney. Fortunately I don't have much to hide downstairs so could get away with it with wearing a one piece by tucking. Don't know how I had the guts to do it, it was a one off experience and quite exhilarating. Looking forward to giving it another go when we head back into summer in another six months.

  • Clothes shopping in general, something I loathed doing as a guy.

I noticed this one already, even though I haven't started HRT. I always hated clothes shopping with my wife and I now attribute it to a few things.  One, men's clothes are boring. Two, I was jealous of my wife's available choices. And three, I like it now because I can shop for those pretty things for me!
