Title: It's! Here! Now!
Post by: Manyfaces on July 20, 2007, 12:44:00 AM
I just got word today that I'll have my hormone letter next week, at my next therapy appointment.  I had thought this point would be at least a few months and several hundreds of dollars away, but the way has been cleared, unexpectedly.  It seems to me almost miraculous.  I am stunned with relief and happiness and the pure joy of affirmation.

It's!  Here!  Now!

My fifty-second birthday is coming up next month.  This is the best birthday present EVER.

Thanks everyone.

My next hurdle--and suddenly much more immediate and pressing since I expect to be actually starting on T very soon--is coming out at work, and I plan to do it in the next day or two, just deciding now how to best approach it.  I have one coworker/friend who knows already, and she is a senior full-time employee (I'm considered part-time temporary, but I've been there for over a year and so I have daily contact and interaction with all the regular staff) so I've asked for her input on how best to approach it.

There are no bathroom issues, since it's a small workplace and the employee bathroom is unisex and single use.  My workplace is a small branch of a larger organization (city/county) and I don't really see a need to involve HR at this point, except to possibly get a new id card/photo at some point.  Initially, though, I simply need to let all the people I work with know what's happening, so that my RLE will be 100%.  Work is the last place left that it isn't already.
