Title: Odd balled question
Post by: Kade1985 on April 26, 2014, 07:15:39 PM
So... I dunno if it's the same of MTF folks but FTMs I know it's fairly common during transition for acne to occur... O_o I had it happen like really bad when I was a tween back during my original puberty but it's like... happening all over again with my transition and my "second puberty" as I've dubbed it... So does anyone have any advice on how to treat acne cause it's been YEARS since I originally dealt with the stuff and I'm sure there's new age creams and such that I know nothing about...

=x

New age creams and such I'm not sure about.  But one thing that was curious for me was when I was drinking milk (3-4 glasses a day) as a teenager my skin was clearer and I had virtually no breakouts whatsoever l. I was getting more acne when I wasn't drinking milk so whether it was a coincidence or the milk it self I'm not sure

That is at least one thing MTF don't have to worry about! LOL. Skin actually gets much better and healthier on E and T-blockers.  I had horrible acne as a teen and it persisted pretty much until I decided to start HRT, and then it was all gone.  Ok, I'll stop rubbing it in.

You'll probably have to add "Proactive" or the like to your transition regimen. Sorry.  Welcome to male puberty.

My skin cleared up when I started HRT. It was not bad but a constant issue. My skin is perfect now.

Unfortunately I have IBS and I can't drink/eat too much dairy products or my digestive system will hate on me big time D=

Shockingly my mother actually got me some over the counter "equate" acne cream today while I was at work. Came home and saw it sitting at my computer. So I'll give it a shot. Kind of shocked she did that for me since she knows full well why I have acne again right now.

Proactive has a great skin care system. I use it and it seems to work very well. :)

I dunno she never wants to talk about ti and whenever it gets brought up she gets all angry and we fight and stuff. So like she probably saw my facebook post asking someone for acne help (mentioning my transition at some point) and next thing I know I have acne cream. So it as surprising

She probably sees it as trying to protect you from making a mistake.

The medicine could be a 'peace offering'. Whether as a prelude to further attempts to change your mind is another question....

Oh no trust me. She's made me get a full time job (I was planning on a job anyways but not full time) and making me move out of the house this summer despite knowing I wanted to mainly focus on college trying to use God against me and stuff. It's been kind of rough dealing with her over it

Tough love? IDK. I'm so glad I am sooooo done with that stage of my life and my parents are both peripheral and distant.

I did have an odd zit or two that showed up here and there. But no outbreaks or anything.
