Title: Changes on T. How do you cope with it?
Post by: Timo on May 05, 2014, 12:36:01 AM
Hello guys, I was just wondering how you guys face the changes. Ive been on T for almost 7 months. Does anyone experience massive weight gain? Like 25 lbs? I used to have very smooth skin and now its full of pimples. I do love the way my voice changed. Also. For those who have the top surgery done do you gain more weight after? I am scheduled for mid June surgery and a lot of things are running through my mind rite now...

My skin was never great and like all men in my family I went through a plague phase. My skin was so-so as a teenager, fine as an adult and then bam. Of course, I also went from a very dry climate to a humid one around the same time and had to drastically change my diet due to moving so that may have had something to do with it. I started being more aggressive about skin care after a horrible summer. Face soap and moisturizer does wonders. I did gain a lot of weight shortly after I started (about 40pounds). I was already a little overweight so it made it worse. I've lost it over the last two years and a little more (51 pounds so far) with another 15-20 to go until I'm happy. I haven't had surgery yet but I'm scheduled for July and in the process of trying lose more by then. I have noticed that after I've had medical procedures I tend to lose weight due to lack of appetite that lasts for a couple of weeks. The last time was 12 pounds after I had my wisdom teeth out. I'm hoping that with my new eating habits and such I won gain weight with being limited in my working out.

With weight gain, the key is to just be aware. To lose it, the only thing I've found that works is burning more than you consume. It sucks, but I've just gotten used to feeling hungry.

I experienced a gain of about 15 lbs over 2 years.  Mind you, I was borderline anorexic before.  It's not fat though - I've been working on bulking and muscle weighs more than fat so keep that in mind.  But no, not everyone experiences weight gain - some experience the opposite.  Just watch your diet and keep up a good exercise routine and you should be okay.

I used to have horrific acne before I started T.  Once I started it, my pimples completely disappeared.  So I'm the polar opposite.

I've gained about 2 kilos since top surgery (roughly 4 pounds), but it's probably muscle because I've been working out pretty hard.

I haven't gained any weight and acne was nil although my skin got oilier.
Basically, I have no complaints at all. Well, ...except a lack of fur and...growth.

I faced most of the changes with a smile, apart from acne. After about half a year of T, I got the worst cystic acne at my jawline. It had to be treated with accutane because different antibiotics did not work. Turned out it was probably due to high T levels, but I get where you are coming from. Acne is no fun. Regarding weight, in the first half year I gained 3 to 4 kilos. But I seem to have magically (as in, I don't know how or why) lost 2 of them now. So my gain from start to about a year has been two kilos. I didn't have top surgery, but this is a concern for me as well. It would be a shame to lose the muscles I'm building now, and gaining fat because of inactivity.

I do weight for the last 4 weeks besides cutting down on food portions but it doesnt help at all. Im hoping acne will be gone after a while but will my weight gain affect the surgery result? Im currently 145 lbs. 125 before T. And I'm 5'5". Asian.

If it's any consolation, I gained more than 25 lbs.  Also for acne, it seems like frantic face washing and sometimes even using dandruff shampoo on your back helps.

Over the near 18 months I've been on T I've gained 10-12 kilos (which is 22-26 lbs?). There's unintentional muscle growth of course but I bet most of it is the result of me being lazy pizza and potato chip addict.
Then again, pre-T my weight was only 48-50 kilos with ~163cm height (105-110 lbs / 5'3) and I disliked being so scrawny so it was just positive for me.

Acne is ->-bleeped-<-ty to deal with but... ah well. I can deal with it because the positives out-weigh the little negatives. Of course I wouldn't mind being acne-free. :D

I am 17 and 7.5 months on T and had moderate acne pre-t, but now I have it pretty bad. I get nodules and lots of red marks and it's just crappy, but fortunately it's somewhat calmed down this month back to kinda what it was like pre-t, but I still have all the red marks. I use 100 mg a day of prescribed doxycycline and clean and clear facial wash twice a day with proactiv green tea moisturizer. The antibiotics haven't helped and neither did the actual proactiv treatment. As far as weight I too have gained a massive amount. I was 5'6 and fluctuated between 115 and 120 lbs and last month I almost weighed 140.  I am not overweight at all, and wasn't anorexic or anything I just have a super high metabolism. I started working out on T and a lot of my gain has been in muscle and bone density. You aren't the only one!
