Title: What's your emotional age?
Post by: TRyan on May 05, 2014, 07:01:00 PM
For me I started intense hiding after age 12.  Even though I've been dressing the part for years and years starting hormones almost 12 weeks ago has made me realize that I'm 12 as far as my gender (if that makes sense). Obviously biologically I'm over 50 but part of me got stuck at the age I started repressing my true self.

Sometimes I'll sit and look at women amazed at their beauty. Same on this site (this isn't any sort of come on or anything but simply true).

I'm curious as to what you all consider your emotional age and how it manifests itself?

Going through this sort of second puberty I am trying to think and dress for around 35 even though I am 48. I want to think and dress as an 18 year old, but that ship sailed and sank quite a while ago. ;D

"Age appropriate" is not in my vocabulary.   Suck it, world.  I'm making up for lost time, dammit!

Second puberty is a good way to describe it. It's more fun this time around though. The first time was rather horrifying, lol. At least you're to age 35. Yeah-I hear you bout that ship sinking awhile ago. I can't dress 12, or really think 12, but in some ways am still there. I figure I'll grow up quickly with all the help I'm getting now though. I really want to enjoy this part though.

I've said it before, but inside every older person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Too true. I'm 37, "really." Thank goodness I'm not 12, or 19, inside; I sure wouldn't want to go back there emotionally. Well, sexually, 19 would be fine, but -- let's not go there.  >:-))

What's interesting is that I do in fact feel younger since starting on T a couple of months ago. Don't know why... maybe in part the direct effects of the hormone on my physical well-being, something about that second puberty thing, or just the sense that life has wonders in store for me once again... but I feel less 60-ish every day.

Haha! Maybe you're growing up and growing down since starting testosterone (that's the way I'm looking at it right now).  I know what you mean about that sense that life has wonders in store again.....

A small part of me is 12. When I came out to myself in the late 90's I got some of that out of the way but I'm going back to reclaim all parts of myself that got left behind.

My emotional age?  Shoot what day of the week is it, or really what hour of the day?  Saturday I did well to approach two.  Today I'm a much more stable fifteen year old.  Maybe one day I will be mature, and productive, for now it is manic depressive tempered by extreme immaturity.  I find myself crying and laughing all at the same time over nothing at all.  It would not bode well for me to be making much in the way of decisions right now.  Wonder what tomorrow will bring.  I hope it is a smile.   ;)

My brother always used to say "You can't really do anything about growing old, growing up however is totally optional".

Some parts of me are still a 14 year old girl, I kinda try to bump her up to the point where she can go out, visit a bar and not embarrass us.

I'm finding my second teen years to be much much better, aside from not getting beat up now I'm allowed to visit bars, I can afford to visit them and live in a reasonably nice place eating real food instead of craft dinners and no name noodles.

Then again, sometimes I wish I could go back, who knows, enjoy the moment and remember that growing up is optional, you are only as old as you feel.

Hi,

Appropriate as i was growing i was allways a bit more mature than my age,

So is in keeping with who i am as a person a little more serous a thinker yet had fun along the way, did a few normal things kids do though spent time by myself,

So  now coming up to 67 im a mature woman,  part of becoming that woman has been being female in many ways to start with, and being who i am im pretty normal Emotionaly  well rounded and confident in myself .
