Title: transition trouble :-/
Post by: Umiko on May 07, 2014, 12:56:07 PM
so, i'm thinking about transitioning very soon, most like during the mid point of this month or june 1st(hopefully i can get my letter by than because i want to be able to transition starting on HRT) so, i thought about it for awhile and though i'm a girl, i do enjoy wearing the clothes i have. they are genderless close with a mix of light and dark colors. my question is, do i have to wear feminine only top clothes or can i continue with my genderless style clothing?

You don't have to wear anything you don't want to.  Wear what you feel comfortable in.  Of course, if you have a gatekeeping therapist, it may be harder; however, it's been my experience that therapists are more interested in your feelings rather than your appearance.  Honestly, I don't think it's a major deal unless your therapist is unconvinced and a gatekeeper.

my therapist isnt a gatekeeper and i could say he is way into my feelings lol. he gives me constant homework, but the story line he wants me to write might be a pain becuz its a very dark past and even though i accept myself, i dont think i'm ready to literally dive that deep, but he does listen and is convinced, its just i wasnt accept it myself. denial ran deep in my veins

Sweetie, when you transition to womanhood, you're allowed to be any kind of woman you want.

Don't let anyone tell you what you have to wear/do/be.

I understand. Still, it's always good to be open when you can.  Not because it's needed for you to be on hormones or transition, but sometimes we need to talk about the things we bury deep down.  Talk about those things when and if your ready.  That being said, I understand how hard it can be to talk about some things that are really difficult and personal.  We all have skeletons in the closet.

As for the clothing, don't worry about it.  The point of this is to be comfortable with yourself.  Sometimes that requires us to go at our own pace.  I'm certainly not rushing, and even though it's hard to wait, I'm glad to be doing so.   Do things at your own speed and don't worry about conforming to a standard.  this is about you and not anyone else.  Who you are and what you like.  Not what anyone else wants you to be.  And do this at your own pace and comfort level and never be pressured to go faster than you are ready for.  [Everyone sound the total hypocrite alert on me, lol].
