Title: High T levels and doc doesnt want to change anything??
Post by: Elijah3291 on May 08, 2014, 06:33:21 PM
So I'm pretty irritated.

I was having weird feelings in my hands and headaches a lot so I went to urgent care and had bloodwork, my dr got the results and sounded super concerned and said my red blood cell count was really high and my blood was thick

all of these were high and out of normal range

hematocrit
hemoglobin
RDW
red blood cell count
albumin
bilirubin (liver)

she told me I was at risk for blood clots and I need to take baby asprin daily

So I went to see my T dr, I got my bloodwork done for T and they said that the normal T range was 230-780, and they said that my range was 728. Then the next day i got a voicemail from a nurse saying that my dr doesn't want to change anything, he wants me to stay on the same dose.  My Dr did see the entire bloodwork papers with all of the high levels.

what the heck? So I'm pretty mad that I wasted my time, took a day off work and paid to see the dr and he doesn't even want to change anything.. so now I guess I am going to have to make another appointment with this new trans clinic, take another day off work, pay for another dr, maybe I can get someone who actually gives a crap.  I am also wondering if the reason my body hasn't really had any changes in 2 years or more is because my T has been too high and the dr never changed anything and its been turning to estrogen. I don't know at what point T turns into estrogen

Wow, that's not cool.  Sorry to hear that, mate.  Sounds like you're at risk for polycythemia which can be dangerous.  I'm surprised your doc didn't want to change your dosage - usually doctors blame T dosage for any little disturbance, so certainly out of the norm.

You'll just need to seek out that second opinion.  Good luck mate.  In the meantime, just try to stay calm and keep things in perspective.  Not a lot you can about his lack of interest, but hopefully this will mean change for the better.

yeah, I'm just annoyed that I wasted my time, money, took a day off work and now I have to do that all over again.

But you're right, I needed to get a different dr anyway, this guy obviously doesn't care, he would never call me back about my bloodwork or explain any of it to me

I'm gonna go to this new trans place that opened up, they offer really cheap bloodwork too.
