Title: New Girl in Town
Post by: girlinguyjeans on May 08, 2014, 10:13:59 PM
Hey everybody! My name's Jennifer, and I'm a pre-everything transwoman currently in the closet. I like playing PC games, working on my computer, cleaning my car (oddly enough), reading, and listening to hard rock and heavy metal. I also am teaching myself video game design, how to play the guitar, and am attempting to write a horror novel. Feel free to say hi, I look forward to making new friends :)

Thank you ButterflyVickster for the warm welcome, and to Umiko Liliana I tend to play lots of bioware rpgs like Mass Effect, Dragon Age for single player games and for multiplayer I really just play Sanctum 2, Dead Space 3, and on rare occasions Borderlands or Left 4 Dead though it's been a while since I've played those. As for people who know my true identity in reality would be my older sister, my ex girlfriend (who is actually very supportive even after we broke up), and one of my friends from school I play Dungeons and Dragons with.

I'm pretty terrible at Sanctum 2 as well, lol, but it's just a really fun game. And for DnD I actually play a custom tabletop campaign with a few friends from high school. Unfortunately we haven't met in a while as we all have jobs and half the group had the first semester of college to deal with. It's pretty fun though cuz I play a half-elf Paladin who looks like a female version of me (really tall, slender, white with dark hair) and nobody's really caught on, except for the friend who knows I'm trans and he just winks as we all role-play and everyone refers to me as a woman. Just that alone makes DnD pretty amazing in my book lol

I can't play male characters either. I learned that during my brief stint with World of Warcraft (I made a male dark elf and played until level 2 before realizing how grossly over-masculine he was. I then made a female human priest and played her for about two months before getting bored with the game).

Hi there!  Nice to meet you!

I'm in the same boat with very few people knowing about me right now. Now, on to DnD.  Do you play the computer games or the pencil and paper?  I play the old school way with 3.5ed.  :D   I can't play male characters very well in comp games.  I always have preferred to play female characters, especially in KotOR and Dragonage: Origins.

I play pen and paper with 4th edition, although my DM is starting to hate that edition and is just cutting out rules and making up his own. We used Action Points for one fight, but now its all standard and minor actions, just for one example. And I agree with you, playing males is sooo hard, lol

Is anyone in the group familiar with 3.5?  It is pretty straightforward and fairly balanced.  And there is enough material that is 3.5 or compatible to be able to make just about any character concept you want to.  :) Oh! and the core rules are free as the SRD on Wizard's website

Wow, I just realized why I always insisted on being the DM in our group (1st ed pen and paper)... it was because I got to play ALL the NPC women in the campaign!
