Title: if you could.
Post by: katia on July 21, 2007, 01:03:59 PM
if you could raise any one person from the dead for one day, who would it be and what would you do?  you may raise them in the prime of their lives, or any age you wish. don't think zombie here folks, ha ha ha.. i mean a real person you can interact with, with all their memories of life and personality.

He certainly could. Good one. It would be awesome to learn even one thing from him.

Einstein's thought, for me, is more-or-less sussed out in text and in equation, which I don't even have the math for, so that isn't it.

I think Marilyn Monroe. If you demand an explanation I might go into it. Heh.

As for a person I've never met - there is one person I'd die to meet. I'd give anything to spend a day with this person, chatting about everything and nothing, shake his hand, see that radiant smile in person, etc. So much behind that smile.

One of the rare beautiful souls never appreciated, but viciously maligned. The cruel way in which he expired haunts me, angers me, stirs my heart for revenge.
A million lives could never equal this one life. (Forgive me, I'm not PC)

But seeing as this whole forum is exasperated with me as of late, I'm not going there.

Once upon a time I took a test here and ended up in the anarcho-syndicalist quadrant.

left-libertarian, if I have to pigeonhole

I have NO fear and NO judgment about another's thing

what are you trying to tease my curiosity, wtf?

nah, just always on the lookout for like minds.
how do you feel about the most controversial topics plagueing the US?
pro-choice or pro-life?
Pro-state sanctioned murder or anti-state sanctioned murder?
Title: Re: if you could.
Post by: The Middle Way on July 21, 2007, 03:27:12 PM
Oh boy.

I do not see pro-choice and pro-life as a correct dichotomy. I don't like casual choice of abortion, but if you make it illegal, you ensure a lot more suffering than a single case. I believe in the sanctity of life.
I just think that you decide a fetal life in the abstract trumps the consequences of forcing the most dis-enfranchised among us to carry through every pregnancy, it's absurd.

I'd think you know my views on state-sanctioned-, well you call it murder too, so we must more or less agree on that*. That is one thing I can still be belligerent about. Which I have unapologetically demonstrated here.

Gwen Araujo          {edited for spelling}

I'd like to have her know that she means so much to so many people.

Gwenn is a 17 year old Transwoman who was murdered in california.  I think it happened within the past decade, but I'm not sure.  Her killers killed her after they discovered she was born different.

   I'm starting to cry.

that's Gwen Araujo, or some other spelling, Newark CA, pretty brutal.

Damn it! I had a feeling I had it wrong. i even searched in order to check my spelling.  I saw like 3 sources that used that spelling and somehow it felt wrong.  Well I'm going to go back and correct it.  I think when I spelled it wrong for my search, it found other wrong spellings.

my mother is who I would, if not to just see her, but to ask her why she did what she did, chat with her, have her see my siblings again and have her see dad again, if only for a day...but only if she wanted to I guess....:(

someone shows me how suffering is lessened by killing, shows me specifically how that works, by convincing concrete examples, I'll change my tune.

so, split the topic, append it to the other one: '..and the death penalty'

we're off topic! hey...

no commercial potential

George Harrison.

That man changed my life in several times, both for the worse and for the better.  He shaped who I am today.

I'd love to be able to thank him and play just one song with him.

Nobody has any vengeance calls?    >:D    Like getting your hands on Hitler for one day.  It would piss him off to know he'd be remembered as a madman, a loser, and a joke.  then, of course, you could slip him some LSD and make him watch hogan's heroes all day.

Not that I'd bring him back.  I don't believe in vengeance.

If he had to watch Hogan's Heroes forever on lysergic, THAT punishment fits the person.

It all caught up to him quick enough anyway.

For someone I knew I would raise up my pastor from the dead and show her that I still have the Mickey Mouse poster she gave me and then I would let her speak to my sister for the rest of the time.

For someone I don't know then it would have to be Brandon Lee so I could show him the rest of The Crow movies that were made.

I would love to say, "my grandpa", but I can't.  I wouldn't raise anyone from the dead even if it was possible to do so and for them to be intact personality wise.  I think if someone is dead then they should stay that way no mater how much I want to see someone.

Because I have an objection against raising things from the dead.  I'm big on the "what is dead should stay dead" that you hear in horror stories.  Even with personality intact and memories of the life they had, I doubt they would still be the same person.  I think dying would leave some sort of scar on an individual, particularly if the person has been dead for many years.
