Title: Dark Red Hair and Laser??
Post by: Kina_1988 on May 13, 2014, 12:39:19 PM
Hello - So I was hoping to get your opinion on whether I should spend the money on laser for facial hair removal or go straight to Electrolysis. My facial hair grows in a very dark red. Not strawberry blond'ish, but deep brownish red, with a mixture of some brown/blonde hairs. Everything I read says that red hair isn't a good candidate for laser but if it's borderline brown, does that make a difference?

I've found a couple groupons for 6 session of laser under $300 so I thought even if it decreased my overall facial hair by say 20% then maybe it would be worth it...on the other hand if I'm having laser and it's not effective I'd rather not put off getting started on Electrolysis.

Thoughts??

Thanks!!

I had some dark red facial hair with dark and white mixed it. The laser technician was unsure the laser would work on the dark reds, her experience was sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. The more fair skin you are the more likely it will work. Fortunately for me, it did work. I still have some white hairs left, they aren't noticeable until the morning of my electrolysis appointment which fortunately is at 8am in the morning on Thursdays. Laser easily knocked away 60% or more of my facial hair.

Reddish/brownish/greyish beard - light skin but not light enough apparently. Didn't seem to be having much success with the laser so switched to electro. But if you have the coupons and it's not going to cost you, you might as well give it a go.

I have a lot of copper colored hairs. The laser could never take them out.
