Title: The Perfect bra: The hunt is over
Post by: Janae on May 15, 2014, 03:46:27 AM

I thought I'd share for those who've been searching high and low.

I'll start by saying I haven't gone FT yet so it's getting harder to hide the girls. I went food shopping with my mom yesterday and had to resort to using my ace bandage, which I HATE, to get the job done. Well as soon as I bent down to get something from a bottom shelf out they popped. Yikes!!! Thank goodness my mother understands..lol. I had on a baggy tshirt so she shielded me while I tried to adjust everything. Needless to say it was a mess.

Latter we went to Wal-mart and we found a sports bra on clearance that looked perfect. It had no label so I asked the price when we checked out. Come to find out it was one of those Genie bras. When I got home I tried it on and sighed in relief.

I must say this bra is great for anyone especially those who haven't gone full time, but still need the support. It's tight and stretchy and has shallow molded foam in the front. It holds everything close to the body which is great, It's great to sleep in too. I only paid $10 for mine but some go as high as $20. I got a XL so I'm not sure how the price factors in.

So for anyone who's still looking look no further....Genie get's the job DONE!!!

You wear a sports bra to bed? They say its not good for developing breasts (whoever they are) but I imagine it would be restrictive. I have a size 34 sports bra and its okay, but it's loose around the band and pushes my boobs up. If you need to wear something to sleep, get a cloth cami bra. I have tow from Bollovo: one in light pink and the other in baby blue. But that might be hard to find. Victoria's Secret has Secret Cami Sports bra which is like a sports bra but with adjustable straps and a nice soft cotton so it's more cloth cami than sports bra. I'm a 32C so it's hard to find bras in my size. I'm usually a 32D. Guys seem to really like them lol but srsly, I'd try it. If you're over a B cup, I would just by regular bras. Even an A but that might be more juniorish. Not all women have big boobs and really it gets on your nerves when people comment on your "nice tits" all the time.

If you have boobs, why not go full-time? You'll have to soon anyway. The sooner the better. I went full-time in three months. Just wondering, so if you'e not ready then def don't as it could just be a bad experience.

EDIT: You've been on HRT for almost two years and you're not full-time. I've been on it for 15 months and I'm full-time no matter what. But I love being full time, I went to NYC and wore these purple-bluish skinny jeans from Sample with holes in the knees and now in the thigh cause I have big fat thighs and this cute form-fiting striped top and just basic flats, and I felt great. Plus, I bought this Nala Ross brown leather Hobo bag from Urban Outfitters and it effing rocks. Tottaly completes my outfit with my necklace ring braclets and watch. I neeed my ears pierced tho so I can start wearing hoops. Tangent sorry. So, really, consider going full-time, what's stopping you? it could be the BEST DECISION eva, like OMG!!!!!

Yes, as I understand, unless you have giant sized breasts, probably not best to sleep in a bra - they need a bit of freedom every now and then. Plus, binding developing breasts can flatten them, probably not the long term look you're after.

Anyway, congrats on finding a bra that suits you - everyone has their own make and brand and style, but finding it is nine tenths the battle.

I love bras so much. Just bought one that clips from the front, a lot better then the back.

I love bra's too... but to sleep in one too... would that be uncomfortable?

I have D breasts, and I always sleep with no bra on..

I still don't have much in the booby department. I can barely fill an A cup. However I'm commenting because I was in Wal-Mart day before yesterday and looked at some of the Genie bras you speak of. I almost bought one because they do look quite comfortable. But decided to wait as mine are still growing. I'm hoping to eventually be able to at least fill a B cup, but my biological mom was small (32B) so idk.

It's really nice to have opinions and options on what to try in the future. Thanks for your input OP!

Im still pretty flat chested ~ I mean my nips are more sensitive and have expanded, but otherwise its just that. Strangely enough I've noticed a bit of gynecomastia (don't know if that's normal) around what might be considered my "pecs" dont know if this is supposed to happen, but I digress.

I've found that the Self-Expressions bras from Target is my favorite one :P Comfy, sturdy, and "filling" (I wear a C just for the sake of proportion, but because of the bra shape, I don't need to "stuff")

I was actually at Wal-Mart yesterday >_< I should've gotten one of those genie sports bras. (working out in a regular bra is painful x_x) even though I don't really have boobs and im still quite flat chested... bras are so comfy and good for protection from when stubborn ass dogs jump on my chest >______< happened to me last night and i was bra-less in my pj's and i literally started crying from the pain lol which is not a common response from me

Growing boobies hurt when they are bumped by anything, even my own arm, lol!! I have cats and I have to watch them jumping on my chest so I know what you mean -Yeeeeoowch!!, and then they are extra sore for about an hour afterward.

As for the gynecomastia, idk. Hopefully someone else who knows more about it will chime in and give you a good recommendation.

Best Wishes.

I wear a sports bra during the day to hide the girls as I'm not FT. I usually wear it to bed as week. Should I shop doing that as it might slow or stop my breast development?  I wear the sports bras at night for comfort as my nipples hurt so much sinc the sports bras protected them a little as I roll around in my sleep sometimes.

Hugs

From what I hear Kay it's not the best idea to wear a sports bra to bed while your breasts are developing. I used to do the same thing cause mine get so sore until I found out it wasn't the best idea. Now I sleep in a bralette that's a cup size too big for me which seems to help. However if my cats aren't in my bedroom I'll just sleep in a tank top with nothing over the girls.

Best wishes

Just joined site! I have been on HRT for about 3 months and the girls are doing very well for the short time. I am for sure at a A cup already and hope too reach a B-C.  I really like the Danskin sports bras from Wal-Mart you can get a 2 pack for $9.97. They have  a lot of assorted colors. I too picked up the Genie Bra but also picked up the cami bra too. They are awesome.

My mother always told me that if you don't sleep in one you'll get stretchmarks & sagging.

I'm not sure what size I am. If I had to guess I'd say between a large b or a small c.

I very rarely if ever sleep in one to be honest. When I'm home, which is most of the time, I don't wear a bra at all so they have plenty of freedom. I slept in the Genie bra just to see how comfy it would be opposed to a regular one. It was cool but I only did it for one night. Honestly, I got it to wear when I go out. For the past few mos I haven't been wearing one when I go out, but it always made me feel a bit exposed so I got this for support.

I only did it the first night I had it to see how comfy it would be. I usually wear a tank, a medium cotton Hanes short sleeve undershirt, or nothing at all (I have magic sheets..lol).

Trust me if I could right now I WOULD!!! It's driving me crazy, but as long as I still grow facial and body hair I refuse. I can't deal with the hassle of fighting it while trying to feel secure enough to face the world everyday. Once I get it taken care of permanently I most certainly will though. If I didn't have that issue I would have transition yeeeeeears ago, It would've been way easier at least. It's been my biggest road block since I was 15 so yea.

Baby steps...

If you had gyno before you started hrt you in luck. Most girls I know who've had it had someone the most amazing breasts afterwards.

Yea I know the sensitivity is enough to make you scream, Thank goodness that's pretty much over for me at this point.

I actually like the bra. It's not to tight and holds everything closer to the body which helps in my case. My breasts are good hand full so it's noticeable without a bra unless I wear baggy lose shirts.

Any recommendations for flattening a tanner stage II. Something lightweight and as thin as possible (no Seran Wrap please ;D).

It's not much but my nips are poking a bit behind a guys tennis shirt which I wear for running - especially apparent in head winds! :D

Yes, When I pull the cookies out of my new Coobie bra I find that it flattens me right out but still gives support. If you check them out they only come in two sizes regular and large, so there is a lot of stretch in the material to accommodate different boob sizes and they look too tiny initially when you put them on, at only $19 it's worth a shot.

Try the Genie bra.

I've been wearing mine for a month now and I love it. It doesn't completely flatten me, but I'm sure for a girl who's smaller it would. It holds everything close to the body so no real movement or jiggle. Also, you can remove the molded cups inside if you want less of a "Breast shape" going on under guy clothes.

I'm going to pick up a couple this Friday on my way home from the DMV getting my gender changed to female on my driver's license. I have to go right past my local Wal-Mart. I'm only an A cup right now so I'll get two A's to wear for now, and two B's to grow into. Thanks for letting us know how comfortable these are.

I'll check out some sort of thin flesh colored upper torso binder. Maybe even one of those bandages. If that doesn't work I'll try one of these bra's.

My fear is having the straps or any bra outline printing through the shirt.

Getting sized at the store has made the biggest difference in comfort.  Not all bra shapes are the same.  I probably tried on at least 15 bras, before I could decide what I wanted.  Depending on what I wore with it also makes a big difference.  In my case, the sales girl fetched different outfits for me so I could get an even better idea of what would work.  Even sports bras fit so differently and worth trying on a few different brands.

Yeah Stacy so true and cup sizes vary from one brand to the next, sometimes rather dramatically. As one gal pointed out a larger band size with B cup would be a D cup in a smaller band size, so cup sizes are proportional to band sizes which really threw me for a loop for awhile.

Just wanted to add to this: Bought a pair of these Genie Bras.

Most comfortable thing ever. I only wear it for working out, but its so unbelievably comfortable. And what I love most about it is that it accentuates what little i have to call boobs, even with just puffy nipples and mild breast tissue, it makes my boobs look natural instead of having to wear a C cup like I usually do and having it be totally empty inside.

This is THE PERFECT BRA! The Coobie bra is simple and ingenious two sizes that fit any body type regardless of the usual band to cup ratio problems. Step in and pull it up, straps will not slide off even the roundest shoulders, cookies conceal nipples or can be removed to minimize breasts under men's shirts if you're not out at work yet. Very inexpensive, I have four in different colors and am modeling a white one here with the cookies removed.

Is this the Genie Bra? It looks great on you Auntie Shan!

I looked yesterday in my local Wal-Mart, and like most everything else in there, every bra I looked at was too big for me size wise all starting at 36 and up. The biggest I can wear that won't fall off is a 34. My boobies now fill an A cup nicely but I couldn't even find any A's at all, only B's and up.

So I tried the 'bandage' method with an elastic medical band.

Ughh. I have this line printing all around my upper torso under my shirt and it was obvious I was wearing something.

Probably have to get a thicker cotton golf shirt instead. The nylon tennis shirt is too conforming.

From the other side here. If your looking to conceal bra straps why not wear a compression shirt over it? My binders that I used pre-top surgery showed unless I wore a compression shirt over it. I think mine was a Champion one and it wasn't very compressive, but it helped blend my binder straps and seams into my body. Binder straps and seems generally are a lot more noticeable than bra straps. You could also possibly use a wife beater shirt over your bra to hide the straps.

I think this is the one I used http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Double-Short-Sleeve-Compression-T628-V/dp/B004YDJ3TI (http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Double-Short-Sleeve-Compression-T628-V/dp/B004YDJ3TI). The compression shirt shouldn't fit super tight, but just enough to blend the outlines (after you put a button down or t-shirt). I think target sells this product, but if you find a cheaper compression shirt go for it.

Hey David, thanks for your feedback. I'm ordering one of these cheapo binder vests to see how I can work that out.

I'll head over to the sports store and checkout some of the under armour stuff as well. Will mix a few things up and see if I can get a combo that works.
