Title: Experiences on Progesterone topical cream (gel)?
Post by: Apples Mk.II on May 15, 2014, 08:57:41 AM
I was talking with an MTF friend, and she told me that her endo had recommended her a non-prescription progesterone cream. The cream has a fairly low amount of P, and it is supposed to be applied directly on the breasts. She says that it has helped her with reducing pain, and improving mood and energy a lot. She is getting a massive breast growth spurt right now. I don't think the gel is causing it, but maybe it is removing the soreness.

Checking the prospect online, I can read: "Antiestrogenic action. Corrects the estrogen / progestore imbalance on a delimited zone." But as an antiestrogen, wouldn't it be detrimental to breast development?

Any thoughts on this product from people that have tried it? At the low amount of progesterone contained, I doubt it can have the same effect as micronized progesterone on slightly better breast development, but maybe effectes such as mood lifting and getting a bit more of energy could help. I've been feeling quite down since my last HRT adjustment...

I very much doubt its effectiveness. What was your latest HRT adjustment?

That can't be told here, but my AA was doubled and now I am quite close to the reference levels in terms of testosterone (but not that near zero some people achieve, and with a nice dosage of androcur). They left the estrogen dosage the same, which feels quite underdosed seeing the reference levels (hemingways). I'm hoping they will adjust it on june.

Androcur may cause depression in some so if you feel down, let your doctor know immediately. Also, lack of sex hormones may cause you to feel down...not enough E to compensate for lack of T. I think it's important to discuss this with doctor ASAP. They will surely correct the situation. ;)

I've been on Androcur for five months and I'm doing quite well.

Well, 4th day experimenting with the cream. No breast differences, nothing mental... but my libido / sex drive is functioning again, which is a small improvement.

After 11 days, I'm calling off the experiment after nown being on real P.

The only differences I noticed while on the cream where:

- Increased libido
- Increased clear ejaculation fluid if masturbating with two days of resting
- not erections, but a bit more "floppy sausage" down there that in the normal "totally shrunk" state. Which actually helps with tucking.

The Downsides:
- Breast dryness, using moisturising cream becomes mandatory
- Nearly 30 minutes to dry, and when at the end of the day the bra comes off, it will be sticky-

Actually, the cream is only useful when having massive growth spurts than become painful, or massive concentrations of strogen causing swollen breasts, things that are far more likely to happen on cis women, specially while still on late puberty. It is just a topical localised balancer for excess of strogen that may become painful.

Researching, some T-girls have tried to use it, but there is never an answer or a follow-up. I only know of one trans woman that benefited from it and it was by reducing chest pain. She is having such massive growth right now that she won't be needing breast implants.

In my book, topical P is pretty much useless.

Im with k, non rx cream is usually not bio identical, is a small quality amount, and what is there will not typically increase serum levels, or hold the same results of prometrium. Asside from expenses, it is a waste of monetary funding which can go elsewhere in transition related expenses, or at least toeards the real deal.
