Helloo everyone just wanted to ask for some opinions!
Firstly, just to say I am seeing my endo in just over a month, and they'll look at my bloods properly, but just wondered if there are any signs I can notice/anything that I'll mention below that gives indication of too high a T level.
So for starters, I am on E only. No antiandrogens. I'm now at 3 months from starting. I've experienced the following:
breast growth (am getting fitted in a few days, but probably an aa cup but not sure), initially became v difficult to get erection but now it's easier, sex drive massively lowered initially but now it's increased a lot (although not as much as before hrt), poossiiiblyy more facial hair growth (I mean the odd few hairs appearing - I'm 20 and had a very late male puberty so don't have much facial hair at all), ejaculations now are basically orgasm, nothing comes out, and then like 20 seconds later perhaps a TINY droplet of clear fluid comes out but nothing else. Also initially had a lot of testicular atrophy, but seems like they've become slightly larger again, but smaller than before hrt. Also my face has already began feminising and body fat has started changing (ie it's gone onto my bum and hips). Alsop reduction in muscle mass which hasn't appeared to come back.
If anyone in a similar position to me, or someone who has experienced something similar, or anyone else with some knowledge about this could give me some info that would be great! :) Do you think it sounds like I would benefit from an anti androgen? Also just to mention I am on my first dose level of E, ie probably a very low dose as my endo was starting me out on that for 3 months to see how it went, so is it likely that they would increase the E level, or give me an anti androgen as well? Just wondering. If no one knows I'll just ask my endo when I go!
Thanks everyoneeeeee :)
Bump..?
I personally have never heard of results like this without an anti androgen. "T" is much more powerful than "E" that is why they usually start us MtFs on anti androgens 2 or 3 months before "E". :)
Heya!
For what it's worth, I am in a similar situation! I am 19 and have only been on hrt for two weeks, but I am only on E. I have also noticed changes - mainly to my skin as I'm only two weeks in. Do you think it might be because we are young and hit puberty late (I am identical to you facial hair wise, even before laser hair removal I never had facial hair)?
Either way, I trust my doctor to know what is best! :) I'm just thrilled to be on the E finally!
The way hormone balances work.. You body is a glass, full to the very top.. With clear water... The -very- top, so that it looks like it is above the edge of the glass (surface tension)... That is your T level.
You want to add Estrogen, a green dye (example) to your body, but when you pour it in, no matter how slowly, it runs over the sides, onto the table, and none of it gets into your body...
What to do... What to do...
You have to reduce the T in your body.. Reduce the clear, to make room for the green.. So you go on Anti androgens... Spiro, or Androcur, whatever your Endo recommends...
After some months, your T level lowers (no set amount), enough , to start adding E... Add in a little green E.. The color begins to change, just a pale green at first.. Reduce the T a little more, making more room for E... More green... The water becomes a darker green, you begin to feel it, feel better...
Reduce more T, add more E.. It's a balancing act... You cannot hope to make room for the E without reducing the T, which is fighting the E.. That is why you are still getting your erections, why they are coming back.. Your body is fighting the E by increasing the T output.
The E that you have added has been working, to a point.. That's why your chest is starting to change., why your hair and skin is getting softer... But only to a point.. You still have to knock down the T level .. Your Endo will know how much.
Reduce the T, add the E.. It's a balance. You can't do one without the other. After a while, the glass will be a deep shade of green (estrogen). Even if you stopped at that point, you will never get back to totally clear again. You will always have some residual green(estrogen) left in your system.
Being on only E will still reduce your T, happened to me in the first 6 weeks, really whacked the T down significantly.
