Couldn't find the old thread so I thought i'd make a new one.
So it turns out that while this is the first time that specific LA Fitness manager has ever dealt with this issue, it isnt the first time that corporate has. The manager told me that corporate said "as long as you aren't going in there to do anything disrespectful and as long as you don't show your genitals, then there is no problem.", funnily enough, the manager commented on the whole "genitals" part that while he understands corporate's concern about this, he personally wouldn't care because its a locker room and people shouldn't put so much importance on genitals... because even if i was fully transitioned and didn't have the operation, i can't be expected to hide out of fear that someone will go "OMG THAT FULLY FORMED WOMAN HAS A PENIS AND MUST BE A MAN!"... but regardless he said that despite his ideals on the situation, it is what it is, and that if I just follow "protocol" then there is no issue. Perhaps some time in the possibly distant future, society will stop identifying sex and gender by what lies between our legs.
he told me to make a copy of my formal letter from my psych so they can put it in my file in case anyone comes out of there complaining about my presence, they have documented back-up lol.
So all-in-all, positive experience, and i can use the female locker rooms without fear ^_^ now I just have to find the guts LOL.
