It feels strange being Retired Staff, leaves me with a lot of extra time that I don't know what to do with.
This morning I looked at all the Yahoo TG groups I was a member of and resigned from them (I haven't really been active in any of them anyway).
Does any of this mean I'm "questioning" who I am, NO. Who I am was settled years and years ago. There is no going back. I need to find some new hobbies that I can do without a lot of physical labor and that are Cheap, real cheap since I'm retired and on a tight budget.
I've been invited to a 70th birthday party in June for all of the people I graduated High School with. Unfortunately its back in Illinois and flying there isn't cheap and I no longer have free housing there (my sister had to move into Assisted Living). All of us in that class were born in 1944. So far about 75 have said they are coming to the get together (our graduating class was around 800 people).
Don't mind me, I'm just grousing.

I can totally relate as I'm just a year ahead of you, retired ten years ago. But you'll come up with something as I did and it will become a regular thing, possibly even a new obsession. I know you have your physical limitations, wishing you good luck sis!
Budget hobbies, easy on the lifting. As I approach retirement, I have been thinking about the very same thing. One of my older brothers said that I shouldn't make a lot of big plans. I started compiling a reading list. I have spent so much time in my career reading manuals, technical treatises and proposals that I have had nothing left for fiction. Other things I had thought to occupy my time: gardening; more time in the garden keeping it happy and last but not least, music. I own and play several instruments, so the cost for that pursuit should be minimal. Community service will take the rest of my "free" time.
Don't really know what to suggest about the party in June, though. Things that came to me were (without knowing more about your financial situation) seat sales, bus, AmTrak, and lest we forget, Days Inn.
I always thought you learn how to knit when you retire. However, I have zero plans to actually retire myself. IDK, maybe I should learn anyways.
Knitting, crochet, needle work are hard on arthritic hands. Other than that, it does keep your hands busy. Maybe volunteer somewhere?
My forced retirement was great for about three weeks, then argh! It has given me time for transition and all the appointments required. Now I just concentrate on the simple things like my daily 6 mile walk, housework and being spontaneous. You will make it Sis! :)
