Title: Posting pics - Google can 'out' you
Post by: Jessica15 on May 27, 2014, 09:57:59 PM
Not quite sure where to post this, but I just discovered this feature recently and think it's important for everyone here to know about.

1. Go to Google.
2. Click Images.
3. In the search box, click the camera icon, then "upload an image"
4. Select any image and it will return the results for wherever else on the Internet that pic exists, and even other similar pics like it.

Is there any way to protect ourselves on here?  I'm kind of nervous about posting pics now for fear that at some point someone might upload a pic of me and have it lead them straight to this forum! :o

many members here only keep pics up for a short time. editing the posts to remove the image.

Key search my name on Google and pages of data come up just from here. A brave new world out there! :) There is no privacy anymore so I would keep images on there even temporarily only if you aren't stealth. :)

Meh....I don't give a doodly f--k. There are plenty of images that I cross post between this and many other sites. Anyone with a triple digit IQ could figure it out.

Do I care?

Nope.

Nope. No good, can't seem to find me anywhere. Guess I'm not popular enough, oh well. For the image I uploaded I'm sure that was a good thing.  I'm not looking to be that popular. ;) I did have a little fun for this tad bit though. Always enjoy learning something new and possibly useful.

I just tried...

There are a bunch of JLT1's????  Who would have thought that?  I got that name because Jennifer Lee (my girl name) combined with Thomas (my boy name) got me there.  I decided against that but have kept JLT1 on here.

I digress but if we choose something common, we can have some anonymity.

I'm notoriously reclusive. On top of that, both my name and my legal name are fairly common. Nothing comes up when I search for me. Even searching for the town I live in doesn't bring anything up. It's almost as if I don't exist.

...

I'm not sure if I should be thrilled or depressed by that.
