Title: A minor's path to get hormones(hrt) in NY?
Post by: zoidberg on May 31, 2014, 10:37:24 PM
What should I expect and what do you think is the best way to go about this?
I don't want (psycho)therapy, I don't need therapy. I've had therapy before, it wasn't helpful. I know who I am.

I think many of us know who we are.The problem comes from getting others to know. A therapist can help navigate the issues like a letter for hormones, dealing with parents, and even peers. It really helps to have an advocate that others respect.

KAT makes a good point. I don't think it's going to happen soon without some therapy. Therapists can open these doors faster for you. A therapist letter to an endo can really boost you toward HRT.

That
said I've haven't gotten there myself.

+1 what Kat said.
Therapist will get you to the endo, the endo will see that the dosages are correct and the hormone you are getting is real. It might seem simple, but, my dear young Doctor Lobster, endocrinology is a rather complex critter; wrong dose could kill you or leave you severely disabled. Play safe Zoidberg. Stick with the pros.
