Asking this question because I know a lot of us experience cold like symptoms shortly after starting hormones. The initial reaction is "yay voice changes" followed by being bummed out about it being a cold.

So, have you experienced this? Do you think it could actually be part of voice changes?

I got a 24 hour bout of flu/cold after each shot at first. Like really bad couldn't function sort of flu symptoms. When I started to get estrogen blockers at the same time as my shot, the flu symptoms stopped. I answered yes to the poll but I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here!

Something like that, yeah. A lot of guys get something that feels like a cold or flu after a few weeks on hormones. I thought this was very common and might be a sign of voice changes.

Yeah, I did feel kind of a sore throat. Actually, my voice gets hoarse and coldy now and again, and as far as I can tell, seems to mean that it's dropping again.

Yeah! My girlfriend was like "your voice changed!" granted I had been to Hookah that night but, my voice healed up shortly after. Now I'm 1 and a half months and my voice cracks so often I sound like the penguin from Happy Feet.

Weird. This is three and a half months now on T? Can't remember. My voice has dropped significantly (my mom mistook me for my granddad on the phone. Nice, mom.), but it never cracked or did anything weird. Just...slid down over time.

I don't remember experiencing anything like that and even if I did, I most likely brushed it off as being some lovely side effect of smoking since I used to cough all the time especially during winter and I started T during winter so yeah. :P

I didn't experience anything really cold like except I noticed some days I felt like I had a frog in my throat and had to kind of clear my throat or cough here and there.

Yeah, I had a sore throat & runny nose that only lasted a day or two and didn't seem to progress any further. I still get it occasionally, and my voice drops further after each bout.

I think Estrogen helps produce stronger immune responses, and so a stronger immune system, but I am not 100% sure. I think I read about that before though, but I could be remembering wrong... But if that's the case, the body might just get sick easier once you start T or something? Just guessing lol.

I usually get an almost cold then my voice starts vibrating in my chest when I talk then down it drops again. I'm almost three years on T and it's still happening but not as frequently

Women have a more powerful immune system than men (http://phys.org/news161315351.html)
"...production of estrogen by females could have a beneficial effect on the innate inflammatory response against bacterial pathogens."

I think usually it is not the actual flu though. My impression is the person does not really get sick enough for it to be the flu. Flu-like symptoms are not uncommon in body-produced pharmaceuticals (like hormones), afaik.

I had once or twice sore throat after starting T. But I wasn't sick since starting hormones, before I was sick no matter what season :'D I had years of school when I wasn't sure they let me pass because of the many missed days caused by sickness.
