Title: i am starting a transgender resource website-asking for help
Post by: Nora Kayte on June 02, 2014, 04:29:42 PM
Hello everybody,
I don't write well so please forgive me.
I know some of you are not as shy as I am. And some may be even more shy than I. For me it just crushes my spirits about transitioning when I call a doctor and they either have no clue about transgender or they have retired or quit treating transgender or one if my favorites....because of Obama care she had to close her practice. I am still pre hrt because of the fear of calling one more endo or primary care to just feel ridiculous for calling. I am starting a website that will be up to date and current of transgender friendly businesses, doctors, support groups and etc.

This way I will get over being so shy and there will eventually a website that us girls and guys will know that when we call the person on the other end will at least have a clue.

First is the name.
Since most of my searches start with "transgender friendly" it will be called just that. I have transgenderfriendly.net and .org .info .biz and .us and was planning on using one for the main site and  point the others to the main site. Please let me know which one would be best for the main.
The .com is taken,  But I can get transgender-friendly.com it has a dash in there. If anybody thinks I need a .com

Second I am going to need help. I am hoping that eventually I will have 1 person for each state and country to edit their area on their own. So anybody interested please let me know.

I am using WIX to host. Their website builder was easy for me to learn and now they have mobile capabilities. And its free

So please reply with your opinions and pm me if you would like to help.
Obviously I am going to need everybody's resources as well if you are willing. So feel free to send them to me and I will bookmark them and get them up as soon as I can. Also when giving me a resource it would be helpful if you would like to include a review along with the resource and contact info. Everything will be anonymous unless I am told otherwise.

It is hard for me to believe how hard it to is for me to find any doctor in  orange county California that is a verified transgender friendly doctor with out calling to find out. So I will be taking care of orange county myself and the rest of California until I find people in California to take over the different counties.
I do know how to get this up and running well. But I might me slower than others. So if anybody knows WIX or can figure it out quickly and wants to do the design I would be happy to let you as well.

Hi ,

I wanted to say that I appreciate a lot what you are doing . I hope you will finish it soon and many people will get help easier .
I wish I can help , I am living in Romania and also I don't have many web design skills , but if you consider I may have some use ,, you can contact me anytime .
About the name , you choose a great one  , I guess many people , like you and me have used this words in searches  .
My experience was somehow fortunate , my therapist send me to a new GP and psychiatrist , the GP sent me to an Endocrinologist and a Dermatologist when I needed it , and all were transgender friendly . It would have been such a hard experience going and searching on my own , or dealing with transphobic people , especially being as shy as I am  .
