Is there anyone actually researching transgender issues in Oz? (I haven't actually looked...)
Bad time, I'd go for academic interest as well as social, but unfortunately I am already slated to go to a congress elsewhere. :(
Yes there are active research groups in genetics, epigenetics, psychiatry, endocrinology, sociology, linguistics, malignancy and law.
If you wish, go to the anzpath website for speakers - so far!
Interesting mix of speakers, and it looks as though you're going to have a blast there.
It's a pity I've already planned out my year, but dems de breaks as they say.
I'll keep 2016 in mind. :P
So what kind of sessions would there be for non-medical inclined types (ahem, me) because I gather a lot of it is about current treatment models (psych, counselling, endo, surgery, etc) and while that's part of my life right now it's not where my interest lies in terms of going to a trans based conference. I'm certainly keen to go if there are sessions that might appeal to me. :)
Most of it is community based. It will also incorporate the discussion on a National Australian Transgender group. It is critical that community people attend.
And we will have a BLAST!!!!
Registration fees are on www.anzpath.org
Registrations now open www.anzpath.org
Limited Scholarships available
Very cool I will be there
Aisla
And every member from Susan's who attends will have a drink with me!
Mmm hope that doesn't put you off ;D
Certainly not Cindy! ::)
I am going to look at going if I can, I just need to see what options I can come up with for attending. -fingers crossed-
