I don't know why, but the idea of carrying a purse seems alien to me. :D
How are you planning to carry your stuff?
my pockets lol
I've had this handbag for a few years, this is all I use, everywhere I go its with me. Can carry with me just about anything I want to, sometimes barely anything, other times loaded with stuff.

Before that I had this one.

Several years before that, yep, you guessed it, also another denim style handbag. I stick with one at a time until it wears out too much, then get a new one to replace it.
I carry around a small/micro handbag MOST of the time. I hate putting things in my pockets. ..
Large phone + full wallet + keys + lipbalm = not enough space in pockets! !! Unless of course you are wearing cargos, lol
Womans jeans allow virtually nothing In the pockets either.
So that forces me to use a bag of some sort.
i carry a handbag around, i never put things in my pocket.. my bag is around the size of the one with puppy sleeping on it above...
I have a small and clutch bags if I go out at night..

No joke! I think I fit a piece of gum in mine once haha.
Fortunately for me I really like carrying a purse! :)
What I never liked and still don't even when I have to is carrying a men's wallet in my back pocket! Nothing like sitting on a rock in your back pocket all the time! :P
love purses. great for putting stuff in with easy access. I have a big blue purse got on sale at Target. highly recommend one looks great. You can use it over the shoulder or as a hand bag.
I actually just have one purse. I dunno I'm not much on purses! Tho I would like to get at least one nice one because the one I have is crap. But then considering the fact the entire interior of it is covered in makeup, various kinds of candies and weird black sticky spots and it reeks of perfume I'd say spending a lot on a purse seems like a bad investment lma.
I have lots of bags, different styles and colours, handbags are brilliant :)
I just carry a purse I haven't really found a bag that I really like yet so the search goes on.
I have one bag, a leather Hobo bag from Nala Ross. Lately I have needed to carry more stuff though and just used a backpack.I see a lot of girls do that. Honestly., another reason I did that is cause I felt ugly last week and didn't want to carry that bag cause I felt like I wasn't passing. But that proved to be unfounded, apparently. Ugh.

Women's jeans allow virtually nothing In the pockets either.
Only a very few brands have decent pockets. The most I have ever fit in mine were my women's wallet, (One of the few I could find that were small), cell phone, charger, USB mini to full USB cable and my tiny MP3 player. The headphones wouldn't fit since everything was full and they were real headphones and not those stupid earbuds. Even they are classified as headphones, I don't consider them to be "real" headphones. :D
I had said here before that I was going to get a bag of some kind, but I still haven't done it. Mainly because I haven't found one that I liked and I have money that needs to be spent elsewhere. Also, I'm not buying some cheap piece of crap. I would rather spend money on something that is good quality and will last (not to mention look good). So, when that ever happens is unknown at this time.
Well the reason women's jeans don't have decent pockets is because they are more focused on fashion than utilitarian uses. Quite honestly, I prolly wouldn't buy any jeans if they had decent pockets because that would take away from the cut of the jeans. Until I started wearing women's jeans I never had a pair that fit me in my entire life, so it's nice. There's the whole fashion element but big pockets would require more room for wherever they are put and would stick out. I think it would look weird. Plus most women carry bags--not only carry them but like them--and bag aside, I don't think the look would sell very well. But there must be some jeans with pockets, like Old Navy Cargo Jeans or something.
OMG my arm feels empty without a purse!! I actually have some that I have recirculated! I always keep switching from a small bag to a bigger one, seems when I have a big one I miss a small one...and then its vice versa when I have a small one LOL
i'm scared of over sized bags lol. my sisters have like backpack handbags. i guess i'll continue to keep my tomboyness and just use my pockets. dont really carry much around anyways and things go straight in my pockets even if i carry a handbag xD

I get similar feelings if I'm not carrying my handbag (ever since first carrying one I feel uncomfortable without one), or anything for that matter (such as my dog pulling me along with leash in my hand), its like feels awkward for me to have both hands free. But I don't like switching up. One time I bought a new handbag but was switching back and forth between that one and my old one, and well, one day actually set it down in the shoe department of a Walmart, got distracted, then forgetting it was even mine, left it there thinking I still had it (my old one) with me, realized moments before mom and I were going up to check out. I told her, one moment, be right back, she asked what was wrong, "I left my purse!" Thankfully it was still sitting there on one of the little benches with the mirror behind it, kind of tucked in the corner where I had left it, merely just looking like a piece of merchandise that was put out of place. I can't do the switching back and forth thing, confuses me. No, I'm a one handbag/purse only girl.

i know what you mean.... a bag is part of me now... In the beginning i kinda forced myself to carry a handbag as woman pockets are small and things in my pockets created bulges.. which i hated..
I'd say it depends how much stuff you intend to carry with yourself during the day. I picked a purse over a shoulder (description says 22x16cm on the bottom) and I can fit quite some stuff into it: wallet, cellphone, keys, some make-up, comb, tablet, umbrella, pills, small water bottle... It's amazing how much stuff can fit into it.
But it's also a question of personal style. Personally I would always go for a purse over a shoulder :-) . I'm kind of used to that from the times when I used to carry a laptop bag.
It's part of the whole package for me. I used to be so nervous to carry a handbag as I always felt like besides just being clocked as a man dressed as a woman, I would then be clocked as a dude clocked dressed as a woman and carrying a handbag. Then I finally came to the realization that it truly makes no difference. This was just twisted nonsense that used to bounce around in my head and really held me back. I looked at a handbag as an accessory, which it partly is, and I felt accessories would somehow make me appear even more noticeable in public. I was completely wrong about this though. Now I can't live without a handbag and it's usefulness. I find that I rarely have any stares from folks since I started carrying one. Wow, I had a complex. Now I go for bold handbags and pile so much into them I don't know how I ever survived without one, even as a guy. Forgive me, but I felt like spewing that thought, but I wonder if others have shared those feelings as well.
Now to the original question...Purse or huge girlie bag? I mostly carry a purse or cross-body bag, but when shopping, I carry a large woman's tote. I don't like to carry a bunch of shopping bags, so I can put some purchases in there. Also, sometimes your in a place where the air conditioning is so cold that it's nice to have a place to carry a light sweater with you.
You can certainly complete the look without one, but I find it's easier to carry one.
I'm a fan of small cross bodies. I carry my cards, cash, small makeup bag, and glasses.
Just picked this bag last week. Gotta love employee discounts.

I carry an over the shoulder purse. I'd feel naked without it. In it I carry necessary medicine, two wallets, digital camera, some makeup, lighted compact, comb, hairbrush, and my cell phone. For it's size it's amazing what I can fit into it. I got this particular one at Wal-Mart and it seems to be holding up very well.
I also have two other over the shoulder purses. One leather one I really love but don't use much due to it's weight, and a cammo one my SO gave me for my birthday last year. I plan on getting an over the shoulder bag similar to Megan's but I just haven't found one I liked yet.

Pockets on girl jeans are practically non-existent, unfortunately. And I'm also picky when it comes to my bags. I hate anything too 'womanly' or adult. Idk why, it just doesn't fit me! My last bag I got from ebay- it's a bungalow 360 messenger bag with otters and hearts on it. So cute!

^ that is the one I got, and I LOVE it. I've used it for a few years now and it's held up sooo nicely! They are also decently priced.

hahahaha
I bought a purse online, and it's like 10x bigger than what I expected, could easily carry a week's worth of clothes so that is definitely a plus, but I'm thinking something smaller would be nice.
Oh, and yes, carrying a purse is very foreign to me too. It feels very awkward, but again mine could smuggle a dwarf across a narrow sea.
I was a little reluctant about the purse too, but then I got hold of a couple of nice ones really cheap, and now I carry one all the time.
My "main" purse is a retro-looking corduroy thing, and my "special occasion" purse is actually a vintage QANTAS airlines bag I got for $15 at a local vintage store. :D

Aw thanks! It's all lighting and camera angles though.
And as far as bags go, it does feel a little odd to me still. Got so use to grabbing my wallet out of my pocket. Cross bodies kinda feel like messenger bags, so it's not that foreign. I work for a handbag company, so I know quite a bit about them.
