US: Christian pastor tells parents to disown gay children and 'turn them over to Satan'

A Christian pastor has advised parents of gay children to disown them and "turn them over to Satan".
John MacArthur, of Grace Community Church in California, made the comments on web show Grace to You.
Responding to a letter from a parent whose son had just come out, he said: "If they profess to be a Christian, you have to alienate them."
"You have to separate them. You can't condone that. It's inconsistent with Christ."
"So you isolate them, you don't have a meal with them, you separate yourself from them."
"You turn them over to Satan as it were as scripture says."

It is interesting that in the USA, a large segment of Christianity seems to have become the religion of intolerance, bigotry and hate - in direct contravention of Jesus's message.
The irony is amazing .....
Yeah, not sure how the message of love, forgiveness, and being nonjudgmental becomes this sort of Whacko nonsense.
Ever since reading The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey, I'm something of a fan of the Church of Satan. It's very LGBT-friendly. I'm not a member but FWIW, I welcome them with open arms!
I look at it from the other POV. If your parents are abusive like that, you should dissociate from them as soon as you are able. It's extremely damaging to your self-esteem and mental health to endure abuse.
Whatever happened to "Thou shalt not judge others" or "Love thy neighbor as thy self" or even "forgive others for their sin?" (Last one referring to those who believe the person is sinning)
That person wants to say that gay people should be condemned like that otherwise it's inconsistent with the word of Christ then someone needs to point to the examples above and tell him what Christ really said.
Not to jump too deep into religion, but some of the doctrines this man preaches are not scriptual, damnable even, so I take his preaching with a grain of salt.
Jesus spent more time with the "undesirables" in society instead of the righteous. Yes it was to show them the path they should be on, but he was very kind to the fallen wherever he went. In my opinion the "church" and it's money and tax status has propelled them into belief being a way to make a living and flaunt power. They will have their day before G-D! My church (Southern Baptist) just booted me out. There was no love, acceptance or anything resembling biblical teaching involved. Now they have the nerve to tell my children to distance themselves from me before they are doomed to hell. I don't worry about it though as like I said they will be judged. In the grand scheme of things our life here on Earth is just a millisecond overall. The funny thing is I am not upset for them, but sad that they are following this terrible path themselves.
These kinds of churches have gone straight off the rails, and they are now far away from the love of Christ and have lost sight of what He stands for.
As Jessica said, they will be judged for their actions. They are becoming the Pharisees of our time.
Jessica - there is a mcc church in your general area (I won't say where to protect your privacy). Might be a bit of a drive for you but it's worth checking out. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to my mcc church here in socal but it's definitely worth it.
