For post-op ladies, how long was it before you no longer had to worry about discomfort when selecting your clothing? I'm packing for my 6-week rehab period at my sister's and I'm wondering if I should take "normal" clothes or whether everything will need to take into account tenderness and swelling.
Before I didn't have to take it into account *at all,* probably 5 months. (I had a lot of swelling.) I could wear about 80% of what was in my closet either for short periods or in controlled situations by around the 3-month mark, though, and I had a bunch of looser pants ("real" dressy pants, not sweatpants) that were just fine with no restrictions.
I'd say, if you'll be there for only up to 6-7 weeks post-op, I'd definitely pack for swelling and soreness. Worst-case is you don't need it but have comfy clothes, versus the reverse...
Good luck!!!
2.5 mths still no jeans im innthe uk so dresses skirts n leggings with very loose cotton trousers.

Wow, noted! Thanks for sharing girls :)
I had jeans on at 1 month mark but they where a little larger then i normally ware. I went shopping at the good will before my day and got a few jeans and pant sets.
Just remember room in the crotch. Ans you are now in the summer months so skirts are the best...

Big thing to have on hand comfort wise is some of the cheapest Hanes or Fruit Of The Loom white cotton underwear at least one size bigger than you normally wear. Get a couple of 8 or 10 packs of them, because you will feel better with a change at every dilation session. I was wearing jeans at 4 weeks, but most comfy were some very soft, almost sweat pants material slacks in my regular size. Skirts and tops were a very safe bet and super long T shirts were also "in style" for wear around the house. Panty hose were not an option until around 8 weeks. Wide leg shorts also did wonders for comfort.
Thanks for the info girls. I will be recovering in the winter. ARGH, guess I will be inside a lot since I won't be able to bundle up. ::)
I'll be in the Aussie summer so was thinking of bikinis

Talk about near fatal wedgies --- Ayyyyyeeeeee!! I am very glad you are joking, I am sure you heard my groan at that thought all the way from California!!
I'm about 95% skirts anyhow, that would also be my recommendation. I've packed pants to go to Minnesota in the winter...but never used them anyhow. :D It's been proven I can do 30F below in a long skirt.
I am 5 months post op, I am now wearing pretty much normal clothing... I do wear a lot dresses or skirts.. but I have always loved wearing dresses. When I was first post of I just wore long loose dresses. My first pair of jeans... hmmm I think I was about 10 weeks post-op.
I have starting wearing thongs again, but it depends on you rate of healing... Me I healed relatively fast on the outside..
It was about 2 months before camel hoof looked more like camel toe in tight pants, about a month longer until it was completely comfortable
