Members of a radical leftist group at the University of Minnesota have demanded that the school confess that it "exists as a product of" colonial evil and must therefore "fundamentally" restructure to conform to their organizing principles.
The group – which calls itself "Whose Diversity?" – has chosen to remain unrecognized by the administration, it says, to avoid becoming "complicit in reproducing a homogenized notion of diversity."
The comically lengthy list of demands is over 1,000 words longer than the Declaration of Independence.
The leftist group opposes "color-blind racism" and demands "an acknowledgement that the university exists as a product of colonialistic processes," according to Campus Reform.
The underground group also wants the taxpayer-funded school in the Twin Cities to require that every student, regardless of major, take a class covering "gender non-conforming issues." Members want "substantially more" courses about "marginalized peoples," too.
...
Since "Whose Diversity?" expounded its protracted list of demands this spring, over 700 students, administrators and faculty members have signed it.

And this is why we can't have nice things.
Can't we just take the LWNJs and the RWNJs, put them all together and hope for instant mutual annihilation?
This is ridiculous...I don't think any sane person would accept that list of demands...
It's well-intentioned, but -- this is a manifesto that was written by a committee, and one composed of very young people. It's so important that no one's needs get left out when you're being activists together... ::)
This is so charmingly post-modern as to be incomprehensible:
"In doing so, the essence of actual diverse experiences, epistemologies and intellectual productions are consistently devalued and/or erased. In this setting, specific incidents and multiple climates of racism, homophobia, ableism, and classism are ignored or denied."
I think there's a way to write that in English, but it's hard to be sure.
And I love the progression from diverse epistemologies and whatnot to the decor of the meditation room:
"The decor shall be approved by a committee of students, staff, and faculty who embody multiple religious and spiritual beliefs to ensure that these rooms are as respectful and encompassing as possible."
I like the idea of a respectful room (Bow down, draperies, bow down!), but I never want to live anywhere that has multiple climates. It's hard enough coping with the one I'm in. :P

just saying (and I'm the type to drag PHS over the coals/lego bricks over how gender identity and expression are viewed here)

Just like matter and antimatter. The world may end up being a better place.
Oh God, those are about the last group of people I'd want educating anyone on transgender issues.
