Did any other Aussie see the Carlotta tele-movie on the ABC the other night?


what did you think?
fairly portrayed? a trans chick played by a cis actress

Didn't watch it. Not that interested, especially, as you say, she's played by a cis actress.

Wasn't interested.   First it was largely fictional -  Carlotta said that her biography upon which the tele movie was based was inaccurate.  Second -   the story reinforced too many negative stereotypes regardless of Carlotta's success as a show girl.

They tried casting a trans woman.,. But they couldn't find one who could cover Carlotta's life from 16 to 40ish.. Jessica Marais was actually Carol's suggestion..

Hmm.. Acccuracy? It was accurate kind of.. To a point - it left a lot out..

Otherwise I enjoyed it.. I just didn't assume it was going for historical accuracy..

Fair point.  It was pitched as entertainment rather than as a documentary.
