The below is a bit TMI just so you know lol.
I thought I'd start this topic cos I've been at my wits end for the past 6 months with regard to my hormone regimen. I've been on transdermal oestrogen (first patches and for the past three months gel) since September 2013. Generally, I had some noticeable changes in my face, skin and I also developed A cup breasts. Fat re-distribution has been minimal but still my body has feminised to an extent. It's all well and good BUT my libido is still quite high and erections are regular. Also, when I masturbate small amount of transparent liquid comes out. Further to that, body hair still grows as it used to (mind you I'm by far not the hairiest person but a reduction in this department would have been nice). I'm on a private care and my doctor will not prescribe anti-androgens since T readings have been quite low "1" and "1.2". The frustrating thing is that doctors in the UK rarely prescribe androgen blockers or if they do it's not spiro but some expensive injectables. I'm mainly annoyed with my male sex drive and the fact that it gives me immense dysphoria which is something I can't control. I've also thought of trying progesterone that can help with breast and nipple development and it is a mild T blocker but I could never get it prescribed. Sorry for ranting so much but can you girls share your opinions or give any advice especially on the sex drive side of things - basically is having a high sex drive NORMAL? Tnx!!!
Despite rumours to the contrary, HRT will not kill your sex drive - it is likely to change it a little though. With those T levels, it's not being caused by T..
Has anyone else had high sex drive on HRT??? Honestly, I;m beginning to think that oestrogen alone is not working even though my breats are sore and they grow....but I'm very sexual? Does this mean that my T is high????
I've got to second what Kelly said; despite all the people who seem to think HRT is a definite sex drive killer, I can tell you that it certainly isn't in all cases. One of my exes was MTF and had been on HRT for a year when I met her. Her sex drive was the highest of anyone I'd ever known. She was aroused, like, all the time.
I am 3rd what kelly said.. I have quite a high sex drive..
When i was male, i had a relatively low sex drive... i started hrt, it remained that same at first.. then as the hormones started to do their thing it increased..
Now I am post-op and my sex drive is through the roof... i am like horny a lot.. as i am a single woman...i have purchased a dildo with a suction cup so it can be mounted, a vibrator and magic wand... i play with myself most nights and now with my wiring starting to come right, i even orgasm.
I hope my future man can handle me... >:-) the things i want him to do to me.
o no man.. now I am feeling horny..
Is there a difference between genetic male and female libido?
I used to have a fairly high sex drive before HRT, but after a week it was completely gone. I can't say that I miss it :)
I am another of the ones who suspects (post-HRT) that Libido may be an exotic resort in some far off country that she will never visit. One other thing, doctors in the UK usually do prescribe an anti-androgen called gosrelin acetate. It is entirely unlike Spiro and much more effective.

Female hormones will not cut off sexdrive, i knew a mtf girl who had doubled her hormone levels and cut off her anti androgens to get back her sexdrive and it worked. But a good anti androgens treatment most often will prevent ALL T receptors from working completely, including those that rules sexdrive.
2 weeks and I had complete 2nd brain lobotomy and I haven't regreted it once lol.

Except that T and libido are not linked in that way.. I have a T level close enough to ZERO to make no difference, I also have a quite normal and healthy libido - for a woman..
You want to know the major driver of your libido? It's the big lump of pinky grey stuff between your ears.. As much as I hate to say this, having a libido of some sort is normal, male or female and those without one, or wishing they didn't have one, are in need of some help.

What is it used for?
Controlling sex drive in men with severely increased sex drive (hypersexuality) and/or deviant antisocial sexual behaviour such as bestiality or paedophilia.

Dose makes a big difference.. Without going in to details, a dose for a MTF is much lower than used for hypersexuality..
Lol my doc is probably very generous ... My ando didn't reduce them since I will be off starting nov 3rd for my srs. Though I agree, my libido was purely physical (no prior mental work). So I had to relearn a purely mental one (with success). Hoping what will be left if any after srs will help. Ando said not to get my hopes up roflmao
I'm not on hormones yet. While I've been somewhat sexuality active, I've very much felt asexual as a man. I have never been one to chase after the boys or girls and all the tgirls I've been with have made the first move...
I look forward to changes hormones may bring to my libido. Lately it has been almost dead so I can't imagine them making it any worse.

I did get help. I got rid of it.
Low dose and I have next to no physical libido. Reading touchy freely stuff however....
I think it's highly variable, and not something to be counted on.
My libido is as dead as a doornail after my HRT went up to full strength. I'm told it will eventually come back in a different form. I'm doubtful, but we shall see.
It is nice to be free of that insatiable, incessant urge, but I miss having at least some libido.
Still, I'll never trade being alive with a MIA libido for dying with an intact libido.
People seem to incorrectly think that girls don't like to have a lot of sex. Many do many don't. I suspect HRT with regards to sex drive is probably no different.

How long have you been on hrt? Mine almost disappeared for the first 4 months but then came back again.

That's the beast. The three month implant with a needle big enough to knit with.

Hmmm...well I'm not really a normal case when it comes to libido, but i'll throw my hat in the ring ^^;
Sooooooooooo I was addicted to sex before I started HRT >.>
Since starting HRT, things feel much more within my control...and a great deal more manageable...like somebody installed a "switch" on my sex drive that I can turn on and off normally. As to whether that is a result of hormones impacting my libido, or me getting over my addiction, is up for debate...
In general it's gone from "Think about sex all the ->-bleeped-<-ing time and plan + clock watch until the next session" to "I don't really think about sex too much in my day-to-day activities, but when I do, holy ->-bleeped-<-! You best get naked or get out of my way, cause it's that time!"
The only thing that throws a wrench in the works for me is the spontaneous orgasms that HRT seems to induce in me >.>
It's apparently a very rare and bloody inconvenient side effect...which we can't do too much about atm apparently :S
So if I have one of them during the day...yeah it jams the switch on for a while and I have trouble turning it off again >.>
...that's way too much info but WHATEVEEEEEEEEEER!!! ^^;
:D
Gawd, Danniella, you always make me laugh.

Hope you don't mind me asking but did you get it on the NHS or private and did they put you straight on it or you had a period when you were only on E? I wish there was a similar implant with E as patches and gels are already doing my head in.
What exactly dictates sex drive? I wouldn't say my sex drive has been killed, I just think about it differently. I dont get random erections anymore after 1 month HRT, but if I think about sex and really want it there isn't an issue. So, no I don't think it KILLS your sex drive, just changes it. At least in my case.

I don't mind you asking at all. I was put on zoladex and climatology straight away and it is all via the NHS. I was self-medding before (usual disclaimers apply) which may or may not have influenced the endo, he very professionally didn't say.

My sex drive was never high to begin with, so the impact HRT had was basically a stop to any undesired erection and all sperm/liquid. My second week on bicalutamide was when nothing at all came out of there lol so not much time at all until I was at total loss for fertility.
This past week I seem to have had a stronger sex drive than I think I ever have, I added progesterone, but earlier in the month I also missed two doses of bicalutamide so not sure exactly which is causing it, but it isn't like a purely sexual feeling either like I really want to have sex and cuddle all night long at the same time...... Either way the intense desire for romantic companionship Is kinda bumming me out.
Sexuality is incredibly individual. It's not just about hormones but also psychology. When spring hit what do you think was the biggest percentage of patients in our Institute of Sexuology where I have my therapist? Men who realized their libido doesn't work. And my therapist asked on every session so far: "How often are you in the mood for sex?" Or later on: "Are you noticing any changes in your sex drive?"
Now as for myself it took like 20 days on blockers to completely eliminate my male sex drive which I was and am incredibly grateful for (details not required I assume :-) ). Then when estrogens were added it again took like 20 days to create a different libido which I assume to be female. It fluctuates as I have problems with my appendix. The random pain and digestion issues it causes is quite a sex drive killer. So I'll have to see how it develops when I have that little bugger removed in early August.
In my case P and exercise help a lot to bring up my sex drive, but it's not like before HRT (thankfully).
I have zero sex drive about 90% of the time. That other 10% is like being a cat in heat lol
I think about sex maybe once every couple of weeks or so.
I never..."pleasure" myself either...
Now the feeling of wanting to be close and connect and cuddle, that is much more often.
When I'm in the mood, the feeling of wanting to be close and have sex is very strong.
But that mood doent last very long. Like when I want it, I want it right then and if I dont get it in maybe 10-15 mins from then...I dont wanna do anything until the next time it strikes.
And this mood is very random! Never know when it's gonna strike!
Age and health are much bigger wild cards for libido than HRT. I was raped in second grade, have never been able to bring myself to have sexual intercourse and masturbation had always been at the price of extreme guilt. Somehow my wife and I have found a way to way to share our love for each other for closing in on 25 years.
My sex drive took a huge nosedive when I hit my 40's and again when I injured my back and began to live with constant pain. Despite losing the ability for erection, it spiked for about 6 months when I started HRT at age 49 in 2010. As a trauma victim, the sterility that came with HRT brought peace in knowing it was finally impossible for me to have children. My libido remained at a middle-aged, nonViagra level for the next 3 years until I recovered my memory of being raped. Since then, just thinking about masturbation or being physically intimate is like taking a cold shower...
I'm already pretty much completely uninterested in sex, so HRT won't have much to kill off to begin with. It would be nice to be rid of the morning erections, though. Seriously, what causes that? I'm not the least bit aroused when I wake up, rarely have sexy dreams, and yet there's that stupid thing sticking out each morning. It's kind of annoying.
That's a good question. When I was a guy I just took care of it, but now I have to take care of my sex drive as a girl in a man's body. The good news is that when I manage to accomplish this, my mental sex drive decreases significantly. My body's sex drive has decreased as well, but still very high. I have determined that having just one Hatachi Magic Wand isn't good enough. It requires being plugged in. So I think I need one for upstairs by my bed and one for its current location. It definitely takes care of my female drives.

Well said, this is more the lines of a cis females drive.
Life is way better then the T fueled brain. So peaceful now.
