Title: Could oestrogen blockers help me to grow taller?
Post by: FtMaster on June 29, 2014, 08:58:35 PM
Hi there, I'm a young trans guy and I stand at 5'4" tall. I've still hopefully got a few years to grow, although I've been the same height for the past few years. I'm wondering if going on oestrogen blockers could help me grow taller? I won't be able to go on T for the next few years, so if I can get these out of my doctor they may be the next best thing. Thanks! c:

Blockers don't make you shorter or taller, they just block the estrogen. Blockers are more expensive than the T and it's best to ask your doctor if it's okay to use them since they may have side effects for you even if you want to use them. They're for halting puberty so if you have a few years to go they might help you out still.

No, but they might *allow* you to grow taller. Estrogen is very effective at closing the growth plates (at least from what I heard from Dr Norman Spack, who kind of is a pioneer in the whole blocker thing). Doesn't guarantee a thing though.

Depends on your age. If you have hit puberty then your growth plates have sealed. Unfortunately I was hoping I would grow a little too, but after doing much research I found that T won't do much on growth.
