Title: Passing and Tattoos, piercings, Other Body Mods
Post by: ElioAyla on July 01, 2014, 12:50:02 AM
So I wanted to ask what you guys think about passing and tats/piercings? Obviously getting a pastel colored beautiful faerie in a grove tatted on my bicep would make me appear more feminine, but I think tats overall help me pass. Any tats that you guys think would be stereotypically female (I am kind of Aspergers-y so I am not sure of these things, kinda seems alien to associate anchors, flowers and birds and feminine, but I know society sees them that way)  please warn me now.

I only have black ink so far and think I might stick to just black ink, maybe some dark blues. I'm coming up with sleeves, but cant afford them yet, so most of my work is stick and poke. I have a lot of tats, but I am a modern primitivist and my tattoos represent my tribal soul ancestry and feel right to me.  :icon_drunk: I'm a crusty punk dirty vagabond gypsy Satyr diy punk if that gives any hints to my appearance !

As far as piercings go I have one ear gauged to 5/16ths and staying here for a little. the other ear is .14. Lol so my face is a symmetrical. I was wondering if my lip ring is too stereotypically female. I figured gauging up to a .12 would be good, a larger ring would look more masculine (I think?) I don't have anyone to ask about this stuff  :icon_dizzy:  I wonder if I should get a second lip piercing, and I think I want Snakebites as opposed to Spiderbites, I think it looks better and a lot more guys seem to have them. Spider bites seem more attributed to girls....

(one ring on each side of the lip. )

or maybe I will just stick it one ring.

well....any other guys here have body mods?

Nose ring on the right side, lip ring in the middle (used to have snakebites, too), left eyebrow, 14mm expansion on right ear, 3mm plug and 1.6mm horseshoe on left ear. :P
I have no idea how those gauge sizes work so I'm sticking with millimeters. HAIL THE METRIC SYSTEM! Also, the lip ring sometimes changes into a labret when I feel like it, I got a nifty rainbow ball for it. :D

Tattoos are definetly in my future plans, I just need to get this body sorted out before that and find a great tattoo artist since the first tattoo I want requires some skillz (a realistic portrait of my first cat).

I have three piercings in one ear and two in the other, but I haven't worn earrings in awhile. I did recently get ear jewelry though that is kinda girly, but whatever. I also have a tattoo on my shoulder. I want to get two more (at least). One of Jormungandr wrapped around my arm under the tattoo I already have and biting his tail and one that kind of like tentacles/branches down my other arm.

As for girly tattoos, ones on the lower back are usually considered feminine. I don't know about piercings.

I've learned not to care about feminine aspects of appearance. I mean, I still care, but I am much happier trying to look like the kind of guy I am than the kind of guy I'm not.

I'm working on two half sleeves, one is watercolor, of the rockies, one is my service dog and her pawprint. I've never had anyone question them. I also have a large back tattoo that no one sees anymore because binders, and one on my ribcage that doesn't get seen either. I think the only girly one I might possibly have is on my wrist and it's four small pawprints, but even that doesn't get me clocked.

My watercolor sleeve will be finished up with another portrait of the rockies in watercolor, some words at the top I think, and possibly a Tardis lol.

The other sleeve is black and grey and I'm not sure what I'm going to put at the top of it, on my I think it's the deltoid muscle, or the other side, but I want to keep with the black and grey side and the color side, and then I'm planning my family crest in color to balance out the black side of my ribcage (which is also the black sleeve side lol. After that, I dunno. I have things I'm thinking about getting on my calves, but I'm not sure.

None of my tattoos have gotten anything but positive reactions, and even with my (still, but not for long) feminine first name, I get called Sir, Mr, and he.

I have a total of 8 piercings, all in my ears. I used to have a few facial piercings too (septum, labret, eyebrow) but I got rid of them because soooo many places seem to object to facial piercings, it's ridiculous. Anyway, I have 00g stretchers in both lobes and two studs behind them. I also have a conch piercing in one ear and a tragus in the other. I was kind of worried about the tragus piercing because a couple of my friends (who aren't very into piercings) commented that, isn't that kind of a girly piercing? But no one has ever mentioned it.

In my opinion, just get what tattoos you like and don't worry too much about what people think. I want to get floral tattoos and no one's going to stop me...plants - including flowers - are totally badass organisms... >:-)

Septum, industrial, each ear is in the process of gauging back to 0g. I have a nautical star on my right ankle, a bird falling to the earth on my left foot/ankle/calf, the kanji for death on my left wrist, a large d20 dice on my right forearm, a diamond on my left collar bone. I have two half sleeves designed but not started, and I'm planning snake bites in the next 3 months.
