LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A federal judge in Kentucky struck down the state's ban on gay marriage on Tuesday, though the ruling was temporarily put on hold and it was not immediately clear when same-sex couples could be issued marriage licenses.

I can sense positive change ion the horizon, ithis is great for us since getting marriage licenses doesn't affect everyone else.
Even now, I fail to see the logic of how one person's romantic preferences affects the rest of the world, it's not like they're killing people.

They're not Blue. With all the problems in the world? Gawd. Personally I think they should outlaw marriage for everyone, but I ain't in the majority so I will go with the flow and think they should legalize it for everyone.

But just for the record and and the way I think, marriage is an institution just like a prison. ;)

To clarify: Is it a prison for everyone or just for you?

If marriage is an institution just like prison, then I hope I get a life sentence without parole.  My wife is awesome.

No for me it was more like an insane asylum. But yeah to clarify, that is just my experience though.

You are lucky. Even without trans being in the mix, mine would have failed anyway. There are awesome people out there and when you find them hold onto them. :)

Just for the record I did say since I wasn't in the majority that it should be legalized for everyone. Just for me never again. :-\

I think marriage is an awesome institution but I also think that marriage is something the government should stay out of, a religious/social institution.

Dee

Yeah, I know, silly libertarian. ;)

I agree. That said, I feel strongly that ending discrimination in state marriage is a step in the direction of getting governments out of marriage. Social conservatives have been using state marriage to subsidize behaviors they approve of and discourage behaviors they don't approve of. When it's clear that they've lost the battle of trying to control marriage through the state, I think they'll finally fall back to the next best thing which is getting governments out of marriage.

That's redundant!

I'm a libertarian too (small L) so I'm allowed to make that joke.  :police:

Small "l" libertarian here, too, and yes, it is.

To digress, my wife was working as a poll monitor in an election. When she got home she said she was pleased I had voted after all as I had been considering not.

I asked how she knew. She said she helped close out the machines and saw the polling statistics. One person voted libertarian.

Government will never keep its nose out of marriage. It affects too much money and tax wise as well as some criminal laws.

I believe you are right. The state has to grant you a marriage liscense so you pretty much have to be given permission from the state if you want to marry someone. Then since the divorce rate is extremely high and most everyone in our government are lawyers, of course they are gonna take care of their own so both parties in the case of divorce have to pay lawyers.

The title is a little misleading. It's about voting.
