Title: Names
Post by: ThePersona on July 01, 2014, 11:39:41 PM
Ok so guys, I haven't LEGALLY changedy name yet. So technically I'm still Michael Lionel Delarosa but I plan on changing it to Christine Salvatrice De La Vierre (Vee-Air in case you just need to be able to pronounce it lol) Christine comes from Phantom of The Opera because I find she's a very strong willed individual and she never judges the phantom for his looks or his reputation, Salvatrice because I wanted an Italian middle name and De La Vierre is my mothers maiden name. Other names I considered were Harper Aria, Amber Fiona, Lillian Collete, Farah Isabella and Lilith Elizabeth. I just wanted to know, what were some names you considered and why?

Rayne is my only current idea, though i am not sure how to spell it. I do not like my last name much but shall probably keep it if i transition in the future. My father would loose his only son, i sggould at least keep his name and likely his initials. I need to find a middle name starting with L. But i just can not think of a fem middle name starting in L.

Lillian, Lily, Lila, Lola, Lucia, Leah, Lia, Lora, Leria, Lera are some I personally like Lia, Leria and Lera though Lera only works if you're Russian or Eastern European IMO

I'd go with Laura or Louisa for the middle name.

It was actually pretty difficult to come up with a good name, because we here in Finland have annoyingly strict name laws that limit the choices quite severely. I was legally cleared to change my name to a female one, but I actually wanted a gender neutral name, which was quite a challenge since it both had to be an approved gender neutral name as well as one that's been given to majority FAAB so that I could take it. It made for a very short list.

Fortunately I found one that I did like. I became "Pi", because not only was it the only name in the list that even mildly intrigued me, but there was a clincher. Ever since I was a kid I've had trouble remembering people's names, but I'm pretty good at remembering numbers. I wondered why people have to have these cumbersome and hard to remember names when we could have handy numbers instead. And this is a name that's both a name and a number!

Lauren is beautiful.

For me Cynthia Michelle second contender Rachel Ann. If I chose Rachel Ann my initials would be RAM. LOL.

I know when I legally change my name it will be Sarah.  I'm not 100% sure on middle name yet so when people ask I say I'm debating between Slizzard and Ke$ha Jr.  It's actually going to be something like Alison or Alice, but the more I joke, the more Sarah Slizzard (Last Name) sounds like a good idea.  :icon_drunk:

I went about it a bit conservatively, and shortlisted a bunch of names that seemed significant to me somehow or that I liked phonetically, but that didn't feel too...costume ball.

Nadia (which I just liked), Alice (From wonderland, and my favorite Jefferson Airplane song), Rayne (which I also just liked), Lisa (which I choose first, from someone I respected), Sasha (which I currently use-I choose it because I share that name with an obscene british comedian, a silver eyed porn star, and an ice skater, which is utterly perfect, plus the androgynous angle works well for me), and Lyra (because Philip Pullman is amazing).

My middle name was an innocuous "Rodriguez", my mother's maiden name, so I stuck with it.  Christine (if that is what you choose), best of luck to you!  My advice it this-your love for many people people, the trendiness of your name, and many other factors will change.  Choose something that feels timeless, and that you'll enjoy saying thousands of times.

I also like Christine.  But I've always liked traditional names for girls.  And when my daughter was born I was pushing for Katherine or Elizabeth, but my wife wasn't having it.  So when it came time to choose MY new name, it just came to me...Katherine Elizabeth.  Or for short, Kate.

I did briefly flirt with the idea of being called Olivia.  But Kate stuck it out.

My female name is Sarah Frances. I look forward to the day when that is all I'm known by.

We all look forward to that day! You find friends and family that call you by your name (preferred) but a lot of people will still call you by your old name.

Thirty-six years ago when I first started cross-dressing and I felt that I needed a feminine name, so  I came up with the name Gina  Ann Taylor. Over the years things changed and I realized that I wasn't just a cross-dresser but I was a transgender so right now I am seriously thinking about legally changing my name. However the other day, a good friend told me that she didn't really like my middle name and suggested 'Marie' which I kind of liked. So my new name is now Gina Marie Taylor, and that's what it will be legally changed to in August of this year!  :)
