Bunyips are great. I can't say I knew about dropbears, though.

Just remember to pretect yourself from dropbears, you have to place a dab of vegimite behind each ear when you go bushwalking. When you go camping place an open jar of open vegimite to ward them off. These two tips will keep you safe from a dropbear attack

I'll give it a try. But I did read Bill Bryson's "The Lost Continent" which was a fascinating romp through Australia.

There are people who voted for Abbott...they are keeping very very quiet for some reason. Although they can be found in the comments section of the Tele, the Hun and all those other lavvy papers.

I don't know about drop bears, but backpackers also drop from trees, usually on the East Coast under cover of darkness.
So, basically, the only safe place in Australia is the part of the map labeled "Giant Spiders"
