I'm scheduled to have brow shave/cheek implants on Tuesday of this week. This morning I woke up with a frog in my throat. I'm in a state of panic. I've been blasting my cold with fruit, tea, honey, and saline gargles and nasal rinses. It's not getting any worse but I'm afraid if I come in clearing my throat or sniffling the surgeon might not do my operation.
Anybody know whether they normally still operate if you've got mild cold/allergy symptoms going on? Pre-op appointment is tomorrow afternoon!! Thanks!
As a Paramedic I would say they will postpone it. I know that is not what you want to hear, but when we are sick our immune systems are compromised. It could open the way for a post op infection plus with nasal and sinus swelling make the surgery almost impossible. :-\
Thanks for the honest response, I was afraid of that. I'm between a rock and a hard place. Months without so much as a hangnail, and this only comes on the (Sun)day before today's pre-surgical appointment, and to make it to that I have to leave before the Doctor's office opens and I can call anyone. All I can really do is get on the train and show up and hope for the best....
Well, I prepared for the worst and - surprise surprise! Everything went off without a hitch. Thank goodness!
Back home and recovering very nicely. The cold never did fully materialize. I have had very little pain, mainly grogginess and discomfort.
