Post by: ssneha23 on July 06, 2014, 08:54:54 PM
My trans friend's therapist said my friend has OCD to cross dress.. And does not have GID. My friend is so distraught over this. Not sure how I can help her.and does this really even exist OCD vs. GID

It could be.

GD hold different levels of discomfort and if she went to a therapist she must of not fit any of these levels, Check out the WPATH SOC V:7 i think is out now.

Not to say it is only OCD but can be lesser forms of transsexualism?

There is not a one box fits all. so she can fit anywhere she feels comfortable.

I don't know much about the mental health issues.

What I DO KNOW is this: If you're friend's therapist tells her she is not transgender, and she thinks she is, she needs to change therapists.

No therapist should EVER tell a patient what their gender identity is. No PERSON should ever tell another person what their gender identity is.

Thanks Suzi, this is exactly how I am going to suggest she do...
