Title: Interesting story
Post by: ineverknewyou on July 08, 2014, 05:31:19 PM
My mother told me a story from when she was pregnant with me that during the 8th and 20th week (3 months) she was hospitalized because she had bad ''exem'' or something, and had to apply a very 'powerful' hormonal cream several times a day all over her body.

And it's between the 8th and the 24th week the change to male occurs if the chromosomes are 'XY'...
She thinks something happened during that time that f***** something up. That my brain got the testosteron washes, but the body never developed as it should've. Or that the creme just masculinized my brain.

Quote:
"All males start out as female embryos. However, somewhere between the 8th week to the 24th week a change to male occurs if the chromosomes are 'XY'. They 'XY' chromosomes cause Testosterone to be produced and released by the body in the fetus body. In the fetal brain this testosterone is converted into a type of estrogen which masculinizes the male brain. The hormonal washed must be very precisely timed for this process to be successful.

How does the FtM Transsexual brain develop?

Like the normal female embryo, the female to male Transsexual fetus starts out as a normal female. Then a problem occurs somewhere between the 8th and 24th week. Even though the 'XX' chromosomes have ordered no hormonal washes to take place, testosterone is still introduced. For example: An errant fetal adrenal glad causes testosterone to be produced in great quantities. The fetus is washed with testosterone, against chromosomal orders. The fetal body remains female. However, if the errant wash is strong enough, the female fetus brain is re-wired to think as male. This explains why many Transsexuals, biological males know, from as early as 3 years old, that they are actually members of the opposite sex."

Could it be something here?

I think that's pretty close to several of the prevailing theories. But the truth is, no one knows for sure. Genetics and human development are both far more complex subjects than most people realize because it's more complicated than what people learn in 6th grade science. Obviously as trans people we get that. While I don't think your mom's guess is a smoking gun, I'd say it's a safe bet.

My mother never used any sort of hormonal therapy and I'm still ftm. No one knows why trans people exist.

I had a similar thing here

At about 2 months pregnancy my mom had a very difficult time keeping me. So the doctor did something illegal even for the time. She was too far advanced for abbortion, so he gave her a very large injection of male hormones to simulate a miscarriage. That same night she almost died. So in order to survive, she had to see me to term and take constant female hormone injections throughout the rest of her pregnancy. She talked about it once and never talked about it again.

It's definitely a good theory, but we're a long ways away from understanding the science behind trans people. It wasn't too long ago that being trans is no longer a disorder, so... Long ways to go.
